An updated version of a classic tabernacle style frame. Commission by artist Marianela De La Hoz . Mahogany wood was used to construct the frame after the artists chosen design Columns , base pedestal, pediment and trim all milled with a squared flat surface to reflect the contemporary nature of the artwork. The artwork had familial references so the architectural elements reflect this sense of home as an altarpiece.

This is a 3 x 9 foot piece with a 2 1/2 inch wide tropical hardwood frame we created for a client. Slotted and splined corners, oil and wax finish to reveal the depth of wood color. Tapa cloth is soaked and pounded inner bark from several varieties of trees. It is then decorated with paint and vegetable dyes. Used as clothing, floor mats, and room dividers it has both everyday use and ceremonial applications.

I was asked to create wood frame to follow the shield pattern of the 2-1 Infantry Regiment. Scaled up pattern of the shield was created , angles found at the respective curves, oversize sections of mahogany were cut and clamped. Pattern was used to shape and smooth wood frame. Wood was ebonized and waxed and a uniform was cut up to be used as spacer and backing for MGySgt service ribbons and patches.
