Hey there friends and family, Firefly has always been committed to honoring family, friendship and history. So on Passover, we really get down to business. For us, the holiday is not so much a religious celebration as a celebration of the love of family and food; remembering the times when the two came together in a seamless expression of all that is good. Here we can be grateful for all people have done, past and present, to make our lives better. It is also a holiday rife w...ith imagery of liberation and reinvention, which seems particularly relevant this year. Let’s take stock. We have escaped the pharaoh's clutches. We have wandered aimlessly in the desert for what seems like 40 years. And while we are beginning to have faith that the promised land lurks around the corner, we are well aware of those lost and left behind. The only thing missing is the gefilte fish, and we have a plan for that! While we still, heartbreakingly, cannot invite you into our home this year, we want to be a part of your Passover celebration. So we are offering the delicious, traditional (which we can say because there are lots of different traditions) Firefly fare you’ve come to know and love over the 27 odd years we’ve huddled in our little corner of Noe Valley. Here’s what: *Matzo Ball Soup, chopped chicken livers, charoset, famous Firefly gefilte fish, fiery bi-color horseradish, root vegetable tzimmes, beef brisket and gravy, potato kugel. All dishes are, or are available, gluten free and are prepared for you to heat at home, with detailed instructions. Each serving will generally serve 4 people. *Pick up time Saturday March 27th from 12 noon to 4 pm. *You can order through our website beginning TUESDAY, MARCH 16TH AT 5pm. *We are cooking as fast as we can, and as much as we can, in our tiny kitchen, but QUANTITIES ARE LIMITED, so if you’re interested, WE STRONGLY SUGGEST neither dillying nor dallying

We are fully aware that the world is opening up around us. Whether it’s getting back to normal or a gaping abyss, we’re not quite sure yet. So we’re going to hold off a bit more on our outdoor dining, and certainly on our indoor dining. Mostly we want to get our staff fully vaccinated before we do something crazy like having a restaurant. In the meantime, we’re getting better and better at takeout, which you can conveniently order through our website fireflysf.com/order. Chef says microwave the cupcake for 8 seconds. I said what about if it’s been a couple of hours at room temperature. She said doesn’t matter. I said what about the fact that microwaves vary and suggested times may need adjusting based on the power of different microwaves. She says that doesn’t matter either. I said what if it is straight out of the refrigerator and your microwave is avocado green colored. She screamed science and I can’t argue with that. Just don’t eat it cold, please. #yummy #glutenfree
