Remember, this Thursday, October 1st, is the first day to submit your 2021-2022 FAFSA or CADAA application! Mark your calendars!
Fullerton College Office of Financial Aid is having our first 21-22 Zoom Financial Aid Presentation in collaboration with Anaheim High School at their Financial Aid Parent Night in Spanish. Shout-out to our financial aid technician Tony for presenting to 73 parents and answering all their questions. Excellence. Elevated. Students can start applying for the 21-22 FAFSA (https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa) or the CA Dream Act Application (https://dream.csac.ca.gov) on October 1, 2020.
We are open today (Saturday) for phone service from 9 am to about 1 pm (the phone queue closes when the callers in queue exceed the closing time of 1 pm, so call in early!)
SAP for Fall 2020 was completed yesterday. You may log in to myGateway now to check your status. Students on FA Warning or Disqualification will receive notifications via email starting tonight through this weekend. Watch your emails! Appeals begin on Monday (first day of school), and will be included with any disqualified notices.
First Fall 2020 Pell Grant disbursement was today! Please check your myGateway account for more information. Please keep in mind this is not the same thing as a refund to your bank. That takes 7-10 days from the point of disbursement. Thanks and have a great fall semester!
If you are enrolled in summer school, and did not apply for the HEERF Grant in the spring, you may now apply for a summer HEERF.. Please refer to the email communication sent on Thursday for the details and the link. We will process these awards the week of July 14th. Students who are enrolled in summer, and otherwise Title IV eligible who applied in spring, were already considered for a Summer HEERF, and do not need to reapply.
Additional emergency grant assistance is now available to enrolled FC students, through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, for those who are eligible for Federal Financial Aid. You will receive a notification via email within the next 24 hours with information on how to apply. Be well!
Update on loan deferments: If you currently have an unsubsidized loan and are still in school, your interest rate is now 0%, or in other words, will not accrue any interest, through September 30th, 2020, as a result of COVID-19. You may wish to contact your loan servicer for additional information. All loans are also placed in a deferment status through the same date, for those in grace period or repayment.
Unemployment and Emergency Fund Support: For those of you who are temporarily displaced from employment, (or your parents if you are a dependent student), please know that you can request an income adjustment by contacting us directly. This would allow you to submit proof of the reduction in income for 2020 earnings, even though your FAFSA/CADAA for either 2019/2020, is based off 2017 taxes, or 2020/2021 academic year, which is based off of 2018 taxes. If you or your family are experiencing a large reduction in income, this may increase your need for financial aid. For the first time as well, we will offer income adjustment requests for students who only apply for and receive the CCPG. Please reach out to your assigned FA Technician for more information. Contact details may be found at: https://financialaid.fullcoll.edu/staff.html
Attention Hornets: Today marks the return of our Financial Aid Labs, albeit in a virtual format. If you need more in-depth help with your financial aid, reach out your your technician and request a Zoom advising appointment. If you aren't sure who your technician is, or their contact details, you can go here: http://financialaid.fullcoll.edu
California Community College Student Emergency Fund Support....currently funds are depleted but you can check for updates here: bit.ly/covid-student-grant.
If you are currently receiving financial aid, and are experiencing financial challenges, we do have limited financial aid funding to assist you. If you received a Pell Grant, contact your FA Technician via email or text to assist you. To find out who that is and for their contact details, visit this page: https://financialaid.fullcoll.edu/staff.html
