Introducing the Filmtools Featured Filmmaker series, first up Cinematographer Rob Ruscher Though COVID has limited our ability to meet filmmakers face to face we have had a chance this year to expand our network to include some unbelievably skilled creators from around the country and the world. Last week we started a new series featuring some of these talented filmmakers starting with DP Rob Ruscher out of Pittsburgh, PA. As one of the top Mvi ops on the eastern seaboar...d, Rob has carved out an impressive career as a commercial camera operator & DP. Some of his work includes campaigns for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Post Cereal, & Uber as well as Mvi oping music videos for Twenty One Pilots & Imagine Dragons. One man band essentials for contrasty interviews, link to the breakdown video in our bio Had a great time last week looking into and breaking down how to shape light to get contrasty shots for an interview. Taking some inspiration from the fantastic documentary series @defiantones, we grabbed some @matthewsgrip c stands, a 6x6 frame with a silk, some Aputure lights and a C70. With just these pieces of gear, all of which will fit in a small car, we were pretty much able to... emulate the interview look from the documentary.
