Over the last couple of years, the face of public education in California has been changing. With a new chancellor of the 23-campus California State University system starting in January, we will have the most diverse leadership in the country. Diversification of leadership is quite important and significant to meeting the goals of racial equity, said Adrianna Kezar, director of the Pullias Center for Higher Education at the University of Southern California. Certainly others are capable of such leadership, but the ability to speak from your heart and authentically about this issue and to have a vision for a direction forward is much more likely to happen with leaders of color. Last week we concluded our first-ever national and virtual edition of Destination College+. Students and families logged on from across the country for our 24th annual conference focused on providing critical knowledge and resources to first-gen students. Tiffany Haddish helped us kick-off Destination College+, our signature college and career prep conference, on October 11th. Two of our very own students, Carlos and David, led the socially-distant interview via Zoom that was watched by hundreds of students and parents attending our opening session. Watch the interview as we learn more about Tiffany's personal education journey and her plan to become an entrepreneur in her community.
