The key to totally losing sight of the big picture is to look at everything from a close-up perspective. Here is a few words of encouragement to those of you who aren’t clear of your direction, or who have taken a serious blow during the COVID 19 season. If you focus on yourself and what you do not have, you will open the doors to perpetual problems and sorrow.... The more you commit to the process of losing yourself in something more meaningful than yourself, the healthier your general outlook will become. Being content doesn't necessarily mean you need to be happy with your current circumstances - it just means that you have humbly accepted them. Be thankful for what you have; many people focus more on what they do not have than upon what they do. If you focus on what you do not have, you will NEVER have enough!
Your Life Balance Health Check: If we want to be effective humans and live productive lives, we must keep our lives in balance. It's not just in finances that we have to balance the books. We all take part in activities, form connections and develop ways of thinking that can either add to our lives or subtract from them. The following questions can help us to take stock, to recognize how much we have 'coming in' vs. how much we have got 'going out'.... Answer the following questions as genuinely as you can: Q1) Which of your relationships add value to your life (these people are assets). Name them: Q2) Which of your relationships detract from your life (these people are liabilities). Name them: Q3) Which of your daily habits improve your life (these are assets). Name them: Q4) Which of your daily habits detract from your life (these are liabilities). Name them: Q5) What parts of your attitude compliment your life (these are assets). Name them: Q6) What parts of your attitude detract from your life (these are liabilities). Name them: Q7) What activities do you engage in that improve you as a person (these activities are assets). Name them: Q8) What activities do you engage in that damage your life, health and/or the lives of other people (these are liabilities). Name them: If you take time to thoughtfully consider these questions, there is a high probability that your future will thank you for it!
Growing Up & Out of Self-Defeating Ideologies: In recent years I've grown to recognize how reasonable beliefs draw us a whole lot closer to getting excellent results in the real world. These days, I like to review beliefs (especially if I'm interacting with other people), not from the standpoint of "are they true?", but rather from the angle, "are they helpful and what purpose do they serve?". Many psychological pieces of research have revealed how people who hold unreasonabl...e beliefs are often significantly more confused in their thinking and subject to all sorts of cognitive parody, worry and stress. If we simply choose to trust that the process of evolving in life requires that we mature out of the childlike assumptions we created about ourselves in our youth, we should find the next question easy to answer. If we are not growing up and out of the limiting ideologies and beliefs that we developed about ourselves as children, we simply aren't growing up. Q) What limiting or completely unreasonable belief have you grown out of recently? And what prompted this? See more
Nobody is a natural at anything. We can choose to work hard to get good at something, and then invest even more and work harder to get better. To say that someone is ‘naturally’ good at something does a great job of undermining the years of time and effort that they have previously put in!
A father said to his daughter You have graduated with honors, here is a car I bought many years ago. It is pretty old now. But before I give it to you, take it to the used car lot downtown and tell them I want to sell it and see how much they offer you for it. The daughter went to the used car lot, returned to her father and said, They offered me $1,000 because the said it looks pretty worn out. The father said, now Take it to the pawn shop. The daughter went to the pa...wn shop, returned to her father and said,The pawn shop offered only $100 because it is an old car. The father asked his daughter to go to a car club now and show them the car. The daughter then took the car to the club, returned and told her father, Some people in the club offered $100,000 for it because it’s a Nissan Skyline R34, it's an iconic car and sought by many collectors Now the father said this to his daughter, The right place values you the right way, If you are not valued, do not be angry, it means you are in the wrong place. Those who know your value are those who appreciate you......Never stay in a place where no one sees your value. Never!
In 1931, Alfred Korzybski first used the expression "The map is not the territory." This simply means that our perception is not always reality; it is just our perception. Q) What does the phrase "the map is not the territory" mean for your personal development and ongoing individual growth?
