Meet our first guest to check in at La Jolla Family House Debbie! Her loved one has been in the hospital for the last three months. It’s been a long journey, with many ups and downs, and she needs to be by her family members’ side for support and care. Unfortunately, she has either had to sleep on an uncomfortable cot next to the hospital bed or commute from Irvine, a nearly two-hour commute on some days. The long commute, and constant bedside vigil, has taken its toll on h...er. As a math professor, she also needs quiet space to work remotely in between her visits. She was incredibly grateful to check in to La Jolla Family House on Monday so that she could have a moment to herself, work in a quiet space and cook a warm home-cooked meal! After staying with us for more than a week, Debbie shared: Thank you for allowing me to be your FIRST guest at La Jolla Family House. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome. I felt like I had a refuge away from the hospital all week while still able to walk to the hospital in a matter of minutes. Please thank the entire staff and let them know that I noticed all of the small details that went into my stay. I was always greeted with a smile, and everyone was so helpful. I hope to be able to stay again soon. It was our pleasure to welcome you, Debbie, and look forward to seeing you again soon.
