Gather together for an evening of classical music brought to you by @candlelight.concerts in conjunction with @fever_us events. This evening @metropolismusicians Chamber Orchestra presented and evening highlighting black composers, and the experience was nothing short of remarkable. Go out by coming in! Make elegant snacks, get dressed up (slippers are allowed), and light the candles for a delightful celebration of music and togetherness! . . .... #concert #candlelight.concerts #metropolismusicians #visualandperformingarts #artsequity #blackmusicians #fever_us #artsathome4all See more

Staying creative keeps the mind fluid and open to new ideas. This is one in a series of orchestral works I've managed to create while this quarantine has been in effect. I hope you like it. Have a great weekend and Happy Mothers Day to all the mom's. Peace.

The Black History bundle from @deepspacesparkle has some amazing art projects that helped us to familiarize our LEAPers with the beauty and diversity of the works of African American artists; here are some selections from our hallway collage!

We talked about our art today! Providing time and a framework for children to reflect on their work and celebrate the efforts of their classmates develops communication skills, observing detail, and sense of appreciation for others. . . . . #visualandperformingarts #deepspacesparkle #sparklersclub #artofed #artroomglitterfairy #arttalk #afterschoolartsprogram #communityarts #childrensart

Arts exposure within the classroom is often relegated to a few activities a year in most educational settings these days, but LEAP knows the significant role it plays in building skills in reading, speaking, writing and math. According to the Brookings Institute, arts participation is related to behaviors that contribute to the health of civil society, such as greater social tolerance and reductions in other-regarding behavior. Artistic expression is vital to the human expe...rience, and fosters creative thinking and problem solving skills necessary for success in an ever changing global society. LEAP works with after school programs to build a greater understanding of the importance of music, dance, visual art and theater in the daily classroom setting by working with teachers and administrators in the practice of arts integration. See our link in bio to find out how to bring LEAP to your school!

Our numbers were small, but we still represented at @theskirball for Inner City Youth Orchestra’s concert celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King. A wonderful evening of music and readings from young people in the community. We even got photo op time with ICYOLA Director Dr. Charles Dickerson. An enjoyable evening of music and community! Thank you, Dr. Dickerson, for all you do to foster the love of music in the hearts of young people! . . . @icyola_ @lacountyarts #visualandperformingarts #communityarts #youthandmusic #gokids #supportartsforkids #icyola #togetherinthearts #artisticoutings #fieldtrip @ Skirball Cultural Center & Museum
