Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone’s face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive?... Did I love? Cards and letters like these remind us of why we do this work, why it’s our passion. To make someone’s end of life journey a little easier and to support their family through the journey and after. That is the true heart of hospice. From a grateful family: Because of good-hearted people like you, this world is a nicer place. To Faith and Hope Hospice, ... We, the family of **** would like to thank you for the kind, compassionate care you showed our loved one during his time of need. Also, special thanks to Reid, Sarah, Roslyn, Daniel, and Collette for being there when we needed them the most. Enclosed, please find a gift of appreciation to help Faith and Hope Hospice continue the great work they do for those in need. COVID -19 isn’t going to stop our volunteers! We can’t do visits in person, but we have some new opportunities available for our volunteers to support our patients and their families from a distance and to support our staff to provide the best hospice care Los Angeles has to offer. Here are just a few ways you can engage: - Pen Pals: Skilled nursing and assisted living facilities are severely restricting who can enter their buildings. We can address the loneliness this causes... by sending letters or postcards to these patients. It’s an easy and friendly way to engage with patients from a distance. - Zoom and Phone Calls: Some routine visits can still be done by phone or video calls. - Filing / Packets: We always have paperwork that needs to be filed and informational packets that need to be made. We appreciate any help we can get with making these. - Receptionist: As you can imagine, we get a lot of calls. Having a volunteer to answer calls is a great relief. - Bereavement Phone Calls: The bereavement program provides one year of grief support to the families of deceased patients. This includes mailings and check-in phone calls. Volunteers can help make some of these check in calls. - Memory Bears and Pillows: These huggable creations are incredible ways to continue the bond with a loved one after they pass. Our volunteers make the bears and pillows from a patient’s article of clothing. Children and adults find these very comforting. - Legacy Projects: It is important for many people to leave something lasting after the die, something for their family to connect with even after the death. Volunteers can help with these projects. These are the new opportunities that we have identified, but we’re open to new ideas as well! Call our Volunteer Coordinator, Jessica, at 818-559-1460 or checkout our website www.faithandhopehospice.com It’s another way we’re making Faith & Hope the best hospice Los Angeles has to offer! #hospicevolunteer #volunteer #hospice #hospicecare #eol #endoflife #pasadena #losangeles #pasadenaca #hospicelosangeles #hospicepasadena #FaithAndHope #FaithAndHopeHospice
