Fair at 44

Thanks to the Senior Gleaners, we have SO MANY apples locally picked from Ramona. Please swing by before our Fresh Fruit Swap at Fair@44 by 1pm today, and spread the word, there's an ABUNDANCE!

As part of the Mingei Museum’s inaugural San Diego Design Week, we are excited to host Safety in Style: Facemasks & Fashion in City Heights, offering San Diegans to join a virtual fashion show on the @elcajonboulevard Instagram account from Fair@44 accompanied by a live Congolese band, Revolution Gospel International, Saturday, September 12 from 11 am 1 pm featuring refugee and immigrant designers based in City Heights. 150 free masks commissioned from participating designers will be distributed to City Heights residents on a first come, first serve basis, and facemasks will also be available for sale on site and online.

Bravo to all these amazing urban farmers who have been donating weekly to our Wednesday Fruit Swap at @fairat44, and are now going home with a gift certificate from @cityfarmersnsy to purchase and grow more fruit in their yard. Also, a major shout to @universe_listener for supporting this effort week after week, and sharing your abundance in so many ways. This week alone Tala picked and donated 400 lbs of lemons! That's what it men's by neighbors helping neighbors. These are all community superheroes giving back how they can, so if you are looking to get involved we would love to receive more donations of locally grown fruits and veggies to redistribute to those in need, and we still have more gift certificates for a free tree if you become a consecutive donor.

Starting tomorrow at our Fresh Fruit Swap our first round of consecutive donors will be rewarded a gift certificate from City Farmers Nursery for a free fruit tree. Lets continue to spread the abundance of free fruit and enhance our city with shade trees one donation at a time. There's is still room to hop on board and win a free tree, so if you have fruit or veggies to donate from your yard, start bringing them over to the Fair@44 btwn 10-noon every Wednesday, and please be sure to wear a mask and gloves when picking and packaging your donations. We're excited to see the coming together of the weekly #TakeWhatYouNeedTuesday free food giveaway tomorrow at Fair at 44 with the wonderful accompaniment of live music provided by a local arts organization Bodhi Tree Concerts. In celebration of dispersing nearly 1000 bags of donated fruit, the Animal Cracker Conspiracy Puppet Company is bringing out their finest Fruit Jugglers and Stilt Walkers to ignite playful, fruit swapping joy with all.
