He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astr...ay; we have turnedevery oneto his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:3-6) Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father (Galatians 1:3-4). Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for usfor it is written, Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree (Galatians 3:13). And through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him (Colossians 1:20-22). And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:13-14) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2:24) For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit. (1 Peter 3:18) But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. (Hebrews 2:9) In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:9-10) Rejoice. Jesus did it all for you. Good Friday indeed!

Jesus suffered and died on the cross to make a way for ALL of us to come to the LIGHT. Mark tells us that on the day of His crucifixion , the Light of Jesus made its way into the hardened heart of a Roman centurion who had watched Jesus die. And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God! Mark 15:39 | ESV

At 3 PM on April 3rd, Jesus drew his last breath and with that the supernatural darkness received a visitation of LIGHT from God! The Temple’s veil tore representing that ALL could come into the presence of God! Jesus, the true Lamb of God, had sacrificed His own life to make a way for US!

Darkness is really what’s wrong with us. We’re walking in darkness if Jesus is not the center of our lives. With darkness comes disintegration, confusion, chaos, emptinesssound familiar? Genesis 1:1-4. So grateful that after the darkness God uttered the words, Let there be Light!

End of Year Message: When Theology Leads to Doxology This weekend: Paul wrote a powerful letter to the church in Rome. In the book of Romans Paul was revealing the gospel of Jesus Christ for us. In Romans 11:33-36, Paul breaks into the Doxology. It is the Theology in Romans that leads us to the Doxology and that is what we will examine this weekend. I hope you will join us online or at our drive in service this weekend. Merry Christmas.

Join EVC for Worship this Weekend! Give Thanks: 30 days of Thanksgiving This weekend: Grateful for God's Steadfast Love - Psalm 107. This Psalm outlines four reasons to be thankful to God for His amazing love toward us.

Evergreen Valley Church 02.11.2020

Giving thanks to God daily changes my focus off of me and onto God. Giving thanks also relieves stress and anxieties. Offering gratitude during stressful times is when it helps the most. Grateful people experience fewer aches and pains. Giving thanks also strengthens my faith by reminding me of His faithfulness! It is good to give thanks!

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23) Lamentations is about the deep sorrow of Jeremiah as he deals with the sufferings that rocked his world. He is saddened by the destruction of Jerusalem and the suffering of his people. And yet, in the midst of all of his gloomy poetry, he writes about the love, mercy and faithfulness of God. As the smoke is still risi...ng from the ashes of destruction, Jeremiah is thankful for three things: 1) God’s love never ceases. 2) God’s mercy is new every morning. 3) God’s faithfulness is great. How can someone claim God’s faithfulness in the middle of tremendous loss? The answer is Jeremiah knew that God could turn tragedy into triumph. He focused on the steadfast love of the Lord. A love that is resolute despite surrounding circumstances. He stood on the faithfulness of God. God is faithful to provide guidance and wisdom. God is faithful to forgive. God is faithful to be present in all of life’s struggles. God is faithful to be good and gracious. God is faithful to orchestrate every event to work together for our good and to conform us to the image of His Son. Great is God’s faithfulness! Are you experiencing sorrow? Heartbreak? Are you lamenting? If so, take heart. Be encouraged. We can look up like Jeremiah. In the midst of our sorrows we can express our thanks to God for his love, mercy and great faithfulness toward us. The name Jeremiah means the Lord exalts. God will exalt you above your lamentation and sorrow today as you thank Him for His great faithfulness. Pray this prayer today: Heavenly Father we praise and thank You that You are a faithful God. We thank You that Your love and mercy, Your grace and compassion, Your strength and your peace are new every morning. Take my sorrows and turn them into songs of thanks as I trust in your unfailing promises, in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.

Living a blessed life also involves practicing walking with God in obedience. When we do, blessings floweven in our brokenness. When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:17-18
