Vietnam Veterans Day commemorates the sacrifices of Vietnam veterans and their families as part of the national effort to recognize the men and women who were denied a proper welcome upon returning home more than 40 years ago. Today, Eskaton asks you to join us in honoring these veterans, those that reside in our communities and across our great nation. We salute and appreciate you all. #VietnamVeteransDay

In 2015 the Providers Association for Home Health & Hospice Agencies (PAHHHA) founded National Caregivers Day to dedicate a day to caregivers everywhere. Eskaton would like to take the opportunity to celebrate our dedicated and hardworking care associates at each community. During this pandemic our care associates have maintained a high level of professionalism, care and support for the residents that reside within our communities. And for this, we are ever so grateful and p...roud of our Eskaton team. Thank you for all the hard work that you do, you are appreciated! Keep it up! #NationalCaregiversDay #WeAreEskaton

Happy Valentine's Day from Eskaton! We also celebrated National Wear Red Day throughout our communities. Observed every year on the first Friday in February, National Wear Red Day (and the week that follows) was established by the American Heart Association in 2004 to draw greater attention to cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death among U.S. citizens. We want to thank all of our amazing team members and residents for their participation and bringing awareness to this very important issue. For tips and advice on how to improve your own heart health, visit eskaton.org/heart-health! #GoRed #WearRedDay #HeartHealth #Eskaton

Meet Chaplain Joy! Chaplain Joy Martin joined the Eskaton Spiritual Care Program in the spring of 2017, and was initially assigned to three Eskaton communities: Eskaton Lodge Cameron Park, Eskaton Lodge Gold River, and Eskaton Village Placerville, where she also happens to live as a homeowner. After serving as an ordained clergy and board-certified hospital chaplain for fifteen years in Olympia, Washington, Joy retired in 2016, so the opportunity to transition into retiremen...t and still practice part-time as a chaplain in her own new community was perfect. She says that visiting Eskaton residents gave her greater insight, and great pride, working and living within the Eskaton system, as she deeply appreciates the uplifting, encompassing integrative care they offer to each and every person during the later stages of living. Meet Chaplain Arlene! Chaplain Arlene Lockett received her chaplaincy from Mosaic Church in Rocklin, California in 2015 after her husband of 55 years passed away that same year. A mother of four children, Arlene started her faith journey as a Bible Study Fellowship student in 1965, and was a small group leader for many years with BSF. She has participated in the Alpha program by Nicky Gumbo, and has taught an Old and New Testament Bible course at church. She feels that servin...g as a chaplain and praying with people has been a wonderful experience and looks forward to ministering to the residents at Eskaton once again.
