It's been a blast helping out The Pacific Marine Mammal Center the past few weeks! While we are willing and able to share equipment anytime, we're hoping they'll be able to raise enough funds to replace their broken x-ray machine! Check out their Facebook page for more information.

Hi All. We hope you’re doing well and staying healthy and safe during this chaotic time! Of course, we are available for your urgent needs and emergencies. We’re open as an essential business but taking some extra precautions to protect ourselves and our community. If you’re unwell, please reschedule your appointment for a better day. Also, please limit appointments to one person in charge/handling the horse. We’d be happy to call additional family members on the phone if necessary. Also, if you’re planning to come to the office to pick up medications, please call first, and we can place the medication outside the office door right before your arrival. Take care, stay well and call us anytime with your questions and concerns. . Here are some tips from the AAEP: (Larger version in the comments)!

Doctors Frank (Borden) and Bracken were lucky enough to meet EMA's newest patient this week. Newborn foals need to be examined in their first day to make sure they are healthy and acquired adequate colostrum after birth. The structure of a horse placenta means that antibodies (protective immunity) are not transferred in utero - it is critical that a newborn foal drinks colostrum in its first day to acquire immune protection. We take a blood sample to evaluate antibody levels, and examine the mare and placenta for any abnormalities. These two were healthy and happy, and so were their vets! Especially Dr. Frank, who is "in foal" herself - Baby Borden is expected this summer! #horsevets #foalsofinstagram #maresofinstagram #foalingseason #healthyfoals @ San Juan Capistrano, California

The Spring show series at the Oaks is cancelled. This decision was made with the recommendation from both USEF and public health officials. We know many of our clients and horses were looking forward to this show, our thoughts are with all of you during these uncertain times.
