The weekend training brood! We love having so many different personalities and temperaments to work with. It’s really nice to have such a diverse group to help each other out. One has separation anxiety, another has physical space issues, one is extremely anxious about life and for fun, throw a puppy in there.
When I discuss training with my clients, I want to be sure that we are always discussing the dog in front of us. Not the dog they think they have. Being realistic with who the dog is, that we are working with, is crucial for the development of the dog and the owners relationship with the dog. No creature on this planet is perfect, and we must approach every lesson with the goal of progress. ... If you can be honest with yourself, and be honest to your dog with your approach, the training moves fluidly. If you approach your training with a disproportionate idea, around what your goals are or what the dog is truly capable of, you will only hit wall after wall in your communication. So, ask yourself: Who is my dog? What does my dog love the most? How can I better communicate and train these two points? That is where training gets ridiculously fun. You can connect with what drives your pet, and provide an insurmountable amount of fun and education in that space.

When the littles hang with the big dog for the day! This little dog crew have all had leash reactivity, and fear based aggressive behaviors. getting to this point has taken time, don’t let this picture fool you. They do still all need management. ... Having a solid dog (Chryses-the malinois) lead with confidence and a stable temperament, absolutely helps them counter balance any of their anxieties.
Hi Everyone! I wanted to start a discussion about separation anxiety. During our lockdowns, we are all at home with our pets, and man oh man are they loving this!... HOWEVER, when life goes back to normal, we don't want to throw our dogs back into the deep end, and have them freak when we are gone for an entire day. Let me know what questions you have, and I am going to create a "good practices" video for you all during this time. Your questions will all be addressed in the videos. Best, Em
Hi friends! With such uncertainty in what we will be able to do, from day to day, I am reaching out to see how we can best support you and your dogs. We can do training videos to give you weekly goals? We can do online group classes? How about online seminars on behavior, nutrition or just about anything dog?... Let us know in the comments, I am already cooking up some ideas.
This picture speaks a thousand words. These two have some sisterly love they need to work on. But we will get there. #terriersofinstagram #rescueterriersofinstagram
