Did you know? The Elk Grove Police Department participates in the Nationwide Project Lifesaver Program. The Project Lifesaver Program is offered free of charge to Elk Grove residents who are caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's, autism, or other conditions that make them likely to wander away from caregivers. Residents in our community, who meet the eligibility requirements, are fitted with a bracelet that would allow officers to track them should they become lost. The offi...cers are equipped with locating devices that utilize radio waves to locate the transmitters that the program clients are issued. To participate in the Elk Grove Police Department's Project Lifesaver program, the prospective client must: Live within the city limits of Elk Grove. Be diagnosed by a certified physician as having Alzheimer's, other dementia disorders, autism, Down's Syndrome, or similar disorders. Be known to wander away from caretakers. The Elk Grove Police Department is very proud to offer this special program to the residents within our community. Should you have any questions pertaining to the program, please call (916) 478-8147 or email us at [email protected].

Yesterday, officers recovered firearms on two separate vehicle stops. The first vehicle stop was in the 9100 block of Elk Grove Florin Rd. where a probationer, who was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition, was found to be in possession of a loaded, concealed firearm (pictured). Shortly after, a second vehicle stop was made in the area of Elk Grove Blvd and Harbour Point Dr., where a parolee, who was also prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunitions, was found to be in possession of a loaded, concealed firearm. Both subjects were arrested for various charges and then transported to the main jail. Rain or shine, we will continue to keep Elk Grove safe!

Today, the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department donated six new Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) to the Elk Grove Police Department. Applied in a timely manner, an AED can shock a heart into a normal rhythm after it has gone into a life-threatening rhythm. The fire department secured an Emergency Medical Services grant from Walmart to partially fund the donation.... In 2017, the fire department began providing specialized training on High Performance CPR to first responders in the region, including Elk Grove Police Department personnel. Police officers are often the first to arrive on-scene to a sudden cardiac arrest. When they can immediately provide quality CPR compressions to the patient, it prolongs the opportunity for defibrillation by the arriving EMS personnel. With today’s donation, the police officers will be able to carry AEDs in their patrol vehicles. These defibrillators will give our first responders the best chance to save a life, Elk Grove Police Chief Tim Albright said. I want to thank the Cosumnes CSD Fire Department and Walmart for their generous donation. This important collaboration will go a long way in serving our Elk Grove community in a meaningful way. Our collaboration with the Elk Grove Police Department is invaluable in providing a seamless flow of emergency response, from the moment care is needed until the incident is resolved. Their use of High Performance CPR in combination with defibrillation will continue to save lives in our community, Cosumnes CSD Fire Chief Felipe Rodriguez said. Cosumnes Community Services District is a regional leader dedicated to providing superior emergency medical, fire protection, parks and recreation services to over 205,000 residents in a 157-square-mile area of south Sacramento County. With the assistance of our community we positively identified the suspect (pictured) from last weeks Can you ID? Detectives from EGPD, with the assistance of the SWAT team served a search warrant at Elk Grove resident, Donald Weideman’s residence. Weideman was not located at that time, however, he later turned himself into EGPD detectives. Weideman was transported and booked into the main jail on charges related to the previously reported brandishing as well as additional charges related to an active and ongoing investigation. Thank you Elk Grove, we appreciate your assistance!
