The Belmond El Encanto is set in the hills above Santa Barbara’s shores, among leafy eucalyptus trees in a neighborhood setting. We drove up winding streets, passing houses and a few serious bicycle riders, knowing we would have had difficulty finding the hotel in the days before GPS. In fact, the beautiful but unassuming entry could have passed for the front of one of Santa Barbara’s elegant mansions, landscaped to perfection. ~Patricia Doherty Travel + Leisure #TheArtOfB...elmond #BelmondElEncanto #SantaBarbara #BeautifulDestinations https://bit.ly/2MKOgU3 See more
Reminiscing about bottomless peach Bellinis, fresh seafood caught in Santa Barbara’s local harbor, the majestic view of the Pacific Ocean, and the toe-tapping tunes of a jazz quartet. Brunch spent at Belmond El Encanto offers nothing less than a foodie’s culinary paradise. #TasteOfBelmond #BelmondElEncanto #SantaBarbara #CulinaryExperiences... https://bit.ly/2YqOyQN See more
The magic of a family getaway. Getting to taste new flavors, dreaming in plush king-size beds, morning cuddles over breakfast in bed, and evening adventures around the property’s seven-acre garden. There’s a lot about travel to cherish, especially when we get to do it together. When thinking of one of our favorite escapes, there’s no other destination as marvelous or serene as the lushes Lotusland, a unique 37-acre Montecito estate once owned by the late Madame Ganna Walska. Walska was a well-known opera singer and socialite. In 1941, she purchased the property and worked hard to transform the space into a horticultural nirvana. Today, Lotusland is recognized as one of the world’s best gardens. As the Los Angeles Times describes, Evidence of Walska...’s art is everywherein surprising juxtapositions of form and playful shocks to our expectations. But Lotusland’s garden is not simply an eccentric fantasy, any more than Alice in Wonderland is just a children’s book. For Walska, plants were more than plants; they were colors to paint with, a family to nurture, characters to direct. Looking forward to when our guests and locals can marvel in this natural wonderland.
