Hello everyone! I hope that you have had a chance to rest and relax during this week off, and practicing strict social distancing. The changes and reactions to the current pandemic have continued to be fluid from day to day, but we wanted to assure you that our department and our wonderful staff and faculty are doing everything we can to make the transition to online learning as smooth and effective as possible. PLEASE NOTE: ALL OF OUR MUSIC CLASSES WILL CONTINUE, BEGINNING... MONDAY, MARCH 30th, IN AN ONLINE FORMAT, INCLUDING ENSEMBLES! If you have any questions about specific classes, please reach out to your instructor. But again, NO MUSIC CLASSES have been cancelled. Please make sure to check your ELAC email account DAILY (@student.laccd.edu) and regularly check your Canvas sites for any updates from your instructor. Some classes may consist of various material uploaded to your Canvas site and supplemented with prerecorded videos, others may be held via LIVE Zoom meetings during regular class meeting days/times. Every teacher may have a different method of handling their class. It is imperative that all students are aware of this, and that they familiarize themselves with ConferZoom on Canvas, or any other remote technology that their instructor may be using. Again, don't hesitate to reach out to your instructor for any questions or concerns. That being said, please be patient and understand that the majority of the faculty are brand new to this online learning model, and that we may not have all the answers and solutions right away. This will be a learn-as-we-go experience for all of us! But we are committed and excited to be able to continue with the semester, and look forward to interacting with our students on March 30th! In the meantime, please take care. Stay safe and healthy. THE ELAC MUSIC DEPARTMENT
A message from our College President: All classes will be suspended from instruction starting this Monday, March 16 through Saturday, March 21. Spring break will move to March 23 March 29. Therefore, no instruction or in-person student support services will be available for the next two weeks. Instruction will resume on Monday March 30. Essential safety and health services, such as the student health center, will still provide services next week.... The college will use this time to convert as many courses and student services possible to remote delivery. Also, during this time, we will thoroughly sanitize our facilities. We apologize for this disruption, but your health and safety is our primary concern at this time of national emergency. Should you have questions or concerns, please contact the college at (323) 265-8663. Thank you. Dr. Raúl Rodríguez ELAC Interim President
