Backpacking season? Me oh my, yes! The weather is cooling off to have a one of a kind wilderness experience! Joshua Tree has 13 staging areas for a backpackin...g trip. To have a great time, you need to be safe. Plan and prepare carefully to make sure you are carrying all the camping essentials: water, food, proper clothes, and sleeping needs. Register at the backcountry board in one of the 13 locations. You must start from one of these locations and cannot hike anywhere and backcountry camp. Check out the link below for these spots. Remember to practice Leave No Trace Principles to preserve this beautiful desert landscape. For more information on backcountry camping, check out our website: https://www.nps.gov/jotr/planyourvisit/backpacking.htm. Photo: NPS / Renata Harrison
