From being dumped at an auction to being placed in a home where she can be pampered everyday! Bella is now being loved on and ridden by kids and she’s so happy. This is what rescue is all about! If you are thinking about rescuing , or buying a horse from auction we can help with bidding , pick up , quarantine and training .

This is a sweet mule we rescued and are now rehabbing has been with us for a little over a month now . Moonbeam is slowly starting to feel better and it shows ! We have been working on gaining weight and muscle . Small works outs in the round pen to her build her muscle . Her face is no longer bloody and raw from the burns but a nice fresh pink skin (she wears a face mask 24/7... hoping her face hairs grow back though it’s possible that won’t happen . A work out in the round... pen today we saw she is sound again! We could not be happier!! A little background: She was from a kill pen in Louisiana and brought back here to our ranch in descanso. Unfortunately she had been left in the sun in a small pen with little to no access to water for quite a while so she came with severe burns on her face and ears . She also was very , in pain , and horrid hooves. * We offer rehabbing for all performance horses and needy equines .

This is what rescuing is all about ! Chief came to the ranch as a 2 yr old skinny , sick , untrained , and afraid of everything . Lots of good feed , proper ground work , training , and tlc has made for a great horse ! Unfortunately chief came up lame and the vet discovered he has beginning of navicular. Today chief found his forever persona and even better he will be staying here at the ranch. He will be a companion/light riding horse for Sarah .

What an amazing filly. From being starved and very sick to a gorgeous happy yearling ! She still has a way to go on her weight and muscle but she is making amazing progress. This smart girl has been doing so great in her ground work training as she now stands tied, stands for the farrier , bathes , and will walk in both directions in the round pen. Good training , feed , are care does amazing things.

The skinny yearling filly and the skinny mule with the sunburnt face got a wonderful PEMF treatment from Heather at Magna Wave San Diego ! I highly recommend Heather she was so good with them despite them being a bit nervous . They responded so well to the treatment!

Freya has been at the ranch now for a little over a month and she is doing great! She has been steadily gaining weight and doing amazing with her halter training and learning how to stand tied. Top photo was the day after she arrived at the ranch and bottom photo is from yesterday after a little training session.

Happy 4th of July !! Just want to post an update on the starved filly we pulled from a feelot last month. Weight gain in starved horses is slow but you can really start to see a starved horses spirit glow when they are fed everyday and cared for! Freya is now halter broke, and gaining . We are working on teaching her to pick up all four feet so the farrier can safely give her a proper balanced hoof trim. Huge thanks to Integrity Feeds for their amazing feed options . She is currently eating their senior /low starch grain and it’s working so well with her weight gain and coat shine! Before and after photo .

Picked up and quarantined these two horses that were dropped at a Texas kill pen last month. A small starved yearling filly and a 4 year old gelding . Rescues are a hard road but the outcomes are rewarding for both horses and owners. We offer lots of options for hauling, quarantine, boarding, training, and equine restorative care.... Our sister ranch, located in Ramona CA, (Lazy Shadows Ranch) offers specialty and geriatric care for rescues and your aging horses. Please message their Facebook site for more information! Quarantine available at both Descanso and Ramona locations.

Ground work is extremely important on creating a solid foundation on your horse. Rocket is doing so great on his ground work training .
