Session 3 | War of the Worlds: A (remote) collaboration/adaptation for 2020 In the Fall of 2020, Cal State Los Angeles Theatre decided to create a virtual, remote production of HG Wells's War of the Worlds. Using OBS software, Zoom and a Production Team of professionals and students, this production went live for 7 performances including a festival in Brazil. In this workshop, meet the collaborators - student designer, OBS engineer, director, and actors.

Rick Carter is the winner of this year’s Imaginator Award! . . Rick Carter is a Production Designer who won an Academy Award in 2013 for his design of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln. In 2010, he won the Oscar for his otherworldly production design on James Cameron’s top-grossing mega-hit Avatar. Carter received his first Oscar nomination for his work on Robert Zemeckis’ Forrest Gump and for Steven Spielberg’s historic epic War Horse. Carter has also collaborated with S...pielberg on such diversely set films as Munich, War of the Worlds, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Amistad, and the blockbusters Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park. He has also been Zemeckis’ production designer of choice on the films The Polar Express, Cast Away, What Lies Beneath, Death Becomes Her and Back to the Future, Parts II and III. Carter co-Production Designed Star Wars The Force Awakens - Episode VII with JJ Abrams, and then recently collaborated again with Steven Spielberg on The BFG and The Post, followed by Star Wars - The Rise Of Skywalker - Episode IX. . . The Imaginator Award is for wondrous achievement in visual conceptualization. This award celebrates the standout achievements of people in the art departments of the entertainment industry.
