TESTING IS BACKDuring the months of November and December we will be doing testing for all DA athletes. It will be done by age group this year with 12u being first and 18u being last. Testing will in groups of 15 athletes or less and handled by appointment only with mandatory signups through Mindbody.

This is a unilateral drill used to help with decleration. The athlete is told to stand on one leg with the ball overhead and then as they take a small forward hop they are to pull the ball down as fast as they can and then stabalize on one leg. By adding the ball we are causing the athlete to work harder by having to absorb more force as well as hold good posture. #dastrength #stcanaheim #strengthandconditioning #speedandstrengthtraining #speedandstrength #unilateraltraining #stabilitytraining
Decided to change up the warm up for these two. A warm up does not always have to consist of your normal mobility, activation, and dynamic warmup progressions. Although those are important, giving the athlete a different stimulus and introducing them to new movement patterns and things they are not used to is important in long term athletic development and it also makes things fun. Lateral cone stack drill. Working on lateral acceleration as well as deceleration and change of direction. The cones are about 5 yards away and the athlete must get all the cones back to the starting cone as fast as possible. A good cue to use is "stay in the tunnel" which helps the athlete to remember to stay low and create good angles to be efficient in their change of direction.
