Each spring at the Dye Creek Preserve, emerging wildflowers transform the landscape into a sea of colors. In March fields become carpeted in yellow tidy tips, goldfields, and butter-and-eggs. As the season warms, lupines, hyacinths, and mariposa lilies add hues of purple, blue, and ivory to nature's color palette. Wildflower season is the prime time to hike at Dye Creek -- and you are invited! This spring's guided hikes will be on March 7, April 5, and April 18. During the fi...rst hike we will visit remote parts of the canyon that require some off-trail hiking. The second and third hikes will follow our main trail to a rock overhang. All hikes are moderately difficult and will traverse 4 miles of rugged terrain. Participants should be prepared to traverse a creek and navigate areas of steep, rugged terrain. Hikes start at 9:00 am and return around 2:00 pm. All hikes are free and open to the public, but space is limited! You can also register by calling 530-527-4261 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm). Participants under 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
