Deer Valley Law and Justice Academy

Our academy was one of the three Law academies to be recognized at a Gala held by the Contra Costa County Bar Association. The Gala featured a few student speeches about how the law programs had personally affected them, Joseph Lindgren did a great job of representing us and we are very proud of him. The Gala was also a fundraiser for the academies. Thanks to the Gala the Deer Valley Law and Justice Academy was given $14,000. Recently our Model UN team took part in a Contra Costa County Model United Nations event at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. A few of our students were awarded for their excellence and performance at the event. Congratulations goes out to them and all the winners at the event. The Deer Valley Law and Justice Academy held our 2012 Mock California General Election! Students presented the issues that will be on the ballot this November, in addition to the candidates running for office. The presidential election was also be featured, with students representing both major candidates, as well as some of the third party nominees. In addition, the event included a mock election, where attendees had the opportunity to enter the voting box and simulate the voting experience.
