At a young age, I learned not to trust my intuition. Not because I was disconnected from my feelings On the contrary, I was feeling too much! My imagination would run wild and I would FEEL things that weren’t even real. >>>I was the one creating my own suffering<<<... There is a big difference between INTUITION and IMAGINATION. I always took pride in being emotionally sensitive and being uber creative. However, in my 20s, I realized that I had created countless imaginary stories about myself and the world. I had a lot of reactive opinions about all of these stories. This type of thinking is referred to as violent (a term & concept coined by psychologist Marshall Rosenberg). It’s violent because we are coming from a place of judgement and criticism instead of empathy and compassion. This outlook was not empowering and held me back on my healing journey. Once I started to change my internal dialogue: I learned to lean into my strengths See that my weaknesses were just lessons to be learned See past my symptoms as my identity Honor and trust my intuition Healing through communication (both internal & external dialogue) is incredibly rich and empowering. I LOVE teaching other sensitive souls how to use these tools to shift their world immediately. Tell me -- what were you taught to believe about yourself growing up that no longer serves you?

Are you YIN or YANG? I come from two, very different worlds: My artistic past as a designer, creative and sensitive person My doctorate training in science and functional medicine... These 2 contradictory experiences have led me to who I am and the type of people that I help I find that I attract two types of clients...The Yin & The Yang. The YANG people Action + Data Investigated Functional Medicine Changed their diet & lifestyle drastically Experimented with various supplement regime Completed extensive lab testing Followed strict protocols (ie. detox, exercise, etc) The YIN people Flexibility + Intuition Explored their Mental and Emotional Health Learned to overcome limiting beliefs Surrendered to bodywork and energy medicine Receive therapy for past traumas Experience various spiritual practices While both saw some initial success with what they implemented, they always feel like they’re still missing a piece to the puzzle. I combine BOTH healing styles and guide each person on their own journey using tools to balance their Mind+Body. Each approach has their own place, their own strengths, and also their own inherent weaknesses if used as standalone approaches. Looking back, I needed both to heal and that I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m curious to know -- which approach have you tried more? Comment YIN or YANG below Want guidance?! Go to www.DrNatashaF.com to work with me 1-on-1 or in a group setting! #DrNatashaF #TheSensitiveDoctor : @johndahlgren

What does communication and mood have to do with the immune system? According to research, a lot. A study published in the journal Brain, Behavior, and Immunity, researchers found that negative mood is associated with higher levels of inflammatory biomarkers.... Throughout the day, participants filled out mood questionnaires. They also collected blood samples to measure fluctuating concentrations of C-reactive protein (CRP) and 7 peripheral inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, TNF-, IL-8, IL-4, IL-10, and IFN-). The people who were more NEGATIVE, were more INFLAMED. Modern medicine has already found the link between chronic inflammation. Inflammation is the body's natural process of fighting against harmful things...as needed...in an attempt to heal itself. But inflammation...all day, everyday...is a major problem. Autoimmunity = the body is attacking itself. Through personal experience, clinical practice and medical research, I’ve seen that those who are struggling with autoimmunity experience the concept of the body attacking itself in many ways. One big way? Self-talk Communication with oneself can look like violent (a term & concept coined by psychologist Marshall Rosenberg). It can take the form of: Judging Demanding Criticizing Blaming Biochemically, inflammation from a negative thought is no different than inflammation to attack a pathogen. When these types of violent thoughts occur towards the self, it’s as if there is a real & harmful attack on the body. Just as if you’re body is attacking your: Thyroid (Hashimoto’s) Joints (Rheumatoid Arthritis) Small Intestine (Celiac Disease) When I work with autoimmunity clients, communication patterns are a big part of what we work on. On my healing journey, I know that changing how I talked to myself and how I viewed myself was a big part of my transformation. Before my inner mean girl voice was so critical of everything I did; it was crippling. Now, while the inner mean girl voice still comes up occasionally, it doesn’t rule my life like before. Do you have an inner voice that’s very critical? How does it make you feel? See more

Our life is a collection of experiences and memories. Lived through by ourselves, our ancestors and all living beings. . Sometimes we have personal experiences that we don’t understand and we can’t see the connection to anything outside ourselves. . One of my favorite parts of MindBody healing is using NARRATIVE Medicine and STORYTELLING to look at a bigger picture, uncover traumas and build a new world to live into.... . If you’re living with toxicity in your head or heart, no amount of healthy food or exercise can offer well-being. . My friend Neeyaz and I are putting together step-by-step guides to help people connect with their MindBodySpirit and use storytelling to heal. . We’re doing this work in our @_the_kanari_ MINDBODY CLUB. Neeyaz and I are going deep into MindBody healing. . There you will have access to a private conference call with us to connect and answer personal questions. Plus healing recipes, resource guides and community forum to share stories and tips. Every month, we’ll build and add onto the resources and tools, so you can have it all at your fingertips! . If you want to come along for the ride and help shape the direction of this community, we’re offering a limited number of LIFETIME memberships in August, available to ANYONE for $5/month. (Reg: $30/month) . That means you lock in the $5 EARLYBIRD rate forever. . . .
