3 minutes. That’s how long you wait when the harissa recipe instructs you to soak the chili peppers in boiling water, and you forgot you didn’t have harissa for the lunch you now have your heart set on THIS DISH. 3 minutes is practically the same as 30 at that point.

I don’t have a CLUE why facebook is selecting random pics from the blog that have nothing to do with the post to show here, despite me selecting the social media pic . Trust me. The last couple posts have NOTHING to do with the books. Sigh. After almost a year of no significant running...I'm running again. I guess I should say something trite here about how "good it feels" but....let's be real. Long miles after a year mostly spend biking, swimming, and most runs less than 60 min? "Good" is not how I felt after pushing myself through an 18.5 mile run loop Tuesday that would have been easy-peasy a year ago.... https://melnewton.com/2021/stillcrazy/

One of my intentions this month is to write 3-4 times a week. Most of the time I'm not inspired. Or the things that are floating to the top that want to be written about take too much emotional energy to give them life on the paper. How student loans have changed from a way to change your socioeconomics you were born into, to a fuck you stop.... https://melnewton.com/2021/theres-no-magic-most-of-the-time/

I knew I should have gone the other way around *sigh*. (Very slick snot mud on steeper-than-pic-looks switch back). Did 18.55 miles this morning before the storm hit. Fairly strong considering the biking miles yesterday and is longest run +5 miles in recent training block. Biggest downside of biking yesterday was that my legs had endurance but no real speed, and I was HUNGRY. Pre fuel: English muffin breakfast sandwich. During run: waffle chocolate and banana sandwich, mushroom bread cake, French toast bread cake, applesauce. Post run: tortilla with turkey and cream cheese. I tend to make my food in batches and throw in freezer so there’s a lot of repeats! Only food note: the French toast cakes either need to be sweeter or add ham and cheese to make them monte cristos.
