I would like to welcome baby Kalia not only to my practice but to the world. This beautiful little girl was born 9/15/2020 to her mommy who has been under my chiropractic watch throughout her pregnancy. Mommy and baby are doing wonderfully. Also, In the past couple weeks I had the honor of helping another pregnant future mommy deal with her baby being in the breech position going into her final month. This is my 16th attempt at what is known as the Webster technique and ...it turns out to be my 15th success. For the uninitiated, Larry Webster, a chiropractor, many years ago postulated that the reason why a baby might not be in the optimal vertex position is due to maternal pelvic misalignment. Over his career he developed a protocol which I was trained in decades ago. He performed it over 700 times in his career at a better than 95% success rate. As I said I'm 15 for 16, paltry by comparison but a success none-the-less, particularly for mom's trying to avoid a C-Section, the go-to delivery method these days for breech, transverse, or brow presentations. It's a simple procedure which is perfectly safe both to mommy and to baby involving a very specific adjustment to the sacrum along with a mild pressure point to the uterine muscle. In general I find it only takes one or two adjustments to get the desired results but I had one case that took 5 adjustments. I'm sure you have heard about the COVID19 outbreak at the White House. They obviously didn't read my email about COVID Bubbles. Trump's spin on his infection is to advise you to not let COVID dominate your life, that we have great therapeutics, the best in the world. Maybe so if you live in the White House. Maybe so if you are not high risk. But at the end of the day though this is not about Trump, or you or me or the quality of therapeutics or any single individual's r...ight to wear a mask or not to wear a mask. It's about the most at-risk. It's about grandma at home with COPD. It's about anyone living in skilled nursing. It's about all the people who if they catch this virus are likely to die. We owe it to them to protect them. They cannot protect themselves. My dad didn't stand a chance. Until there is adequate testing and a safe and effective vaccine these are the assumptions I make whenever I'm out of my bubble, as I say out in the wild: 1) All of us are shedding virus right now; you, me, my staff, my patients, the clerk at Vons, etc. 2) Everyone I come in contact with is either high risk or lives with someone who is high risk, and can't afford to take this virus into their bubble. If we all remember these simple 2 rules, and behave accordingly, we can get through this together to the other side, which I expect to be the 3rd or 4th quarter of next year, a time when masks can begin to come off, and social distancing can be eased, and we can once again safely wait in line at Disneyland with 50,000 other people and eat dinner in a crowded restaurant after waiting in the reception area for 30 minutes.
