According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, each season corresponds to an organ system; the fall season corresponds to the lungs. From a Chinese Medicine point of view, high cholesterol is what we call turbid phlegm. Cholesterol is a very natural substance and it actually is also a very important substance. The liver generates 70% of your natural cholesterol. If the liver is not functioning well, then you may have a cholesterol issue. The idea is to use acupuncture to try to regulate the liver function. When you translate that into Conventional Medicine, the liver has a lot to do with the gall bladder. The liver and gallbladder are together and, in the center, is the pancreas. You have a group of organs right in the middle. There are different types of hormones involved. If you can manage them in order to make them function better, it will help with the cholesterol.
