Asymmetry. My body craves discipline, boundaries, routine, power. My body craves flexibility, kindness, softness, openness, acceptance. ... There is this beautiful union surfacing between shadow and light self. And it is freeing me from binary thinking what truly is masculine and feminine? What do they mean to you? I am rejecting patriarchy from within. Yin/Yang, this +/- energy is cellular. It is a duality that is in everything. It is free from egoic good and bad because it is more about wholeness than it is separateness... I am surrendering to this internal freedom. It doesn’t come from the outside/others. It is me before lies the lies of what it means to be masculine or feminine. The lies about either/or, enoughness and belonging. Gratitude Grace, as I journey deeper. Thank you @theannehodder in supporting my inner-knowing. And thank you to my partner for holding this space. I cannot recommend coaching from Anne enough

I wish healthcare was about healing. I wish those of us called to support deep healing felt supported by healthcare systems rather than unsupported/abused. Yes- you have to wear a condom to protect each other during sexual play. Yes- you have to wear a mask to protect each other during a viral pandemic. ... I empathize with your discomfort. I am here to support you with all your feelings around wearing a mask, yet you must still wear it. I support your individuality only as long as it does not harm others. This is a statement is in service of all our healing. I am here to protect me and to protect you through use of education, boundaries, empathy/shame, activism on every level from policy makers, to healthcare administrators to healthcare providers to healthcare consumers. At the start of 2020 I prayed for courage to use my voice, and to step into my power. Interesting how that has manifested this year... I will touch on this more soon. Take care beautiful humans. #wearyourmask #socialdistance #stayconnectedtoeachother

As Tara Brach teaches me, healing yourself comes from a space of radical compassion. As the meaning-making-creatures that we are, our mind will look, often tirelessly, for the "why." Why is this happening to me? Though there is power in purpose-- this is not the same. Western medicine commonly uses violent communication to imply that illness is caused by self and therefore is the responsibility of the individual to heal. Though we all have autonomy in our wellness, ou...r healthcare system conveniently leaves racism-- environmental, obstetric, economic, reproductive, to name a fewwwww, out of the conversation. Words like "BMI," and "obesity, and "geriatric" are thrown around with shame in the undertone. Age, weight, sex, race do NOT determine health that is science. Unfortunately, research is biased. You are not to blame for your illness. You are not to blame for your abuse-- especially from the healthcare system. Just to be clear. You are human. Which is a vulnerable experience. Though courage and resiliency are traits often celebrated in the heroic tale... it doesn't mean you deserve what you are going through or that you have to be "better" because of it. Healing>> calls for radical acceptance, radical compassion, change is the only constant, and you are loved in every way. @tarabrach See more

I am Dr. Grace. I specialize in healing the deepest parts of ourselves. My practice is guided by equity, safety, and pleasure for all persons. This level of healing requires breaking down internalized beliefs of not-enoughness. It is activism and liberation through the pelvis. This takes conscious awareness of the ancestoral lineage and collective traumas. Clearing the pelvis cultivates a grounding, centering and "coming home" to your unique, freely expressed, YOU in a space... where the heavens and the earth meet within. Through trauma informed yoga therapy practice, radical compassion, body/mind/spirit movement, breathwork, energy work, reiki, affirmations, and various manual therapies, I support your inner guides in your deepest healing. I am currently working on a certification in Somatic Experiencing and Professional Yoga Therapy and I am being mentored in energy healing. I also enjoy dancing and laughing when I am not working. Interested in booking? For now I am limiting this work to virtual sessions. Starting in January, I will be back in my ‘home away from home,’ @rosewoodhealing Look out for more information to come. Day 0 Hello friends! I haven’t shared this news with anyone yet BUT I have learned that sharing our struggles can encourage and help others. So last week I had... a partial mastectomy - like an XL-sized lumpectomy. As a self-employed mom of 3, it’s nearly impossible for me to just take a week or so off to heal. But I wanted to share what I’m doing to heal from my unique vantage point as a women’s health PT AND as a patient: I made this video about 8 hours after surgery. I have NO surgical limitations on shoulder range of motion - but many women will. Follow your surgeon’s recommendations. See the video for details: Get as comfy as you can in that chest binder so you can rest. Maybe in a recliner or propped up in bed. Stay ahead of the pain. Stay hydrated to help with post-op constipation. Fluid recommendation: Drink half your body weight (in pounds) in ounces. So if you weigh 140 - that would be 70 ounces of water (not caffeine or alcohol). Eat enough fiber. My lovely mom made me homemade chicken/veggie soup - a perfect hydrating blend of fiber and protein. Keep moving, but safely! Movement encourages improved circulation, digestion, and healing. Start slow and follow surgical limitations on shoulder range of motion. Shoulder rolls can be a great place to start! Breathe! Use deep belly breathing and victorious breath. And, what about nausea? no-sugar ginger ale (no artificial flavoring or colors), almond flour crackers (gluten can increase nausea and congestion for some people) that have fiber deep abdominal breathing, P6 acupressure point compression (google it!), inhalation (not ingestion) of peppermint oil ginger or peppermint tea *See my YouTube channel or sign up for my free videos for the BREATH PRACTICES - link in bio **These are suggestions for educational purposes only and do not constitute physical therapy. You should get the approval of your surgeon before doing this or any movement or exercise program after surgery.* #lumpectomy #mastectomy #postop #recovery #integrativemedicine #lifestylemedicine #medicaltherapeuticyoga #yoga #physicaltherapy #physiotherapy #womenshealth #breastcancer #awareness
