DreamCatcher has a new youth program on Sundays hosted by Unaccompanied Immigrant Youth Specialist Qoc'avib Revolorio! Sundays in Dream Catcher's Wellness Center focuses on our Central American youth, who come for various reasons and have a lot to contribute to our center. Spanish speaking staff are available from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm for emotional wellness check in's with individual clients, but also to create community in our safe environment. Basic services are provided bu...t the highlights are the traditional meals from Central America that are prepared and enjoyed together, with the help of all the youth. Dream Catchers values the culture and language of each young person, and actively create safe environments with participants to engage with them to support them on their journeys towards housing stability and healthy lives in our community. Qoc'avib Revolorio has a variety of experiences working with diverse populations of youth in the past eight years. From facilitating popular education workshops in a youth detention center in western Chicago land, to running groups with Latino 12 - 17 year olds in the south west side neighborhoods of the same city Qoc'avib has a passion for trauma informed and strength based youth engagement that is based in compassion and empowerment. In Oakland, this experience manifests as a year of case management for transitional aged youth who are experiencing homelessness and currently, as the Unaccompanied Immigrant Youth Specialist for Oakland Unified School District.
"Dreamcatcher is my calling. This is something I'm passionate about because I know that I can help the youth. And the youth know that they can come on and depend on me." Dwayne Chenevert, DreamCatcher Shelter Coordinator.
