Locke & Key / The Sandman Universe: Hell & Gone #1 will now be available April 14, 2021and will have multiple cover variants including Cover A by Gabriel Rodríguez, Cover B by JH Williams III (Batwoman, The Sandman: Overture), Cover C by Kelley Jones (Batman, The Sandman), and two other incentive editions featuring art by Rodríguez and Williams, respectively.

Ablaze will publish a new chapter in the adventures of Leiji Matsumoto’s character Captain Harlock, but this new storyline has been created, with Matsumoto’s approval, by French artist Jérôme Alquié. Space Pirate Captain Harlock, which will launch in June, is a new story arc set in the same timeline as the original series. Captain Harlock, who has been banished as a pirate, must save the earth from a destructive power that comes from within. The story will be published as f...ull-color, 32-page comics. The first issue will have a main cover by Derrick Chew and additional covers by Kendrick Lim, Leirix Li, Yanick Paquette, Miguel Mercado, Andie Tong, and Jérôme Alquié. Matsumoto not only approved of Alquié’s story about his character but praised his art and his faithfulness to the details of the original. "The universe of the series is perfectly reproduced," he said, adding "A day will come when young people will forge their own world. And if I can serve as a launching pad for the fulfillment of their dreams, then I am honored. Thank you very much." Captain Harlock first appeared in Matsumoto’s manga, also titled Space Pirate Captain Harlock, which was published in 1977. An anime adaptation followed in 1978, and since then the character has starred in several other films and television series. Palindromes as a fun game we are skeptical, but having said that, Exploding Kittens announced yesterday that Tacocat Spelled Backwards will be released on August 1. In Tacocat Spelled Backwards, players battle to draw Tacocat closer to them by winnning duels by playing cards that match or have higher value. They must defend their hand or sacrifice be forced to sacrifice their lowest card. The round ends when a player is on their last card, and whoever has the lowest value card wins the round which brings Tacocat closer to their side. The game box comes with 7 colorful palindrome tiles, 38 illustrated palindrome cards, and an adorable token of Tacocat. This game is for two players, ages 7 and up, and plays in 15 minutes. It will retail for $14.99.

As much as we love this holiday, under COVID, I’m not sure how we will be able to have the normal festivities and still be safe. Also we understand the avenue will not be closed and that there will not be the usual parade. Another by-product of the COVID shutdown is that the publishers were not able to produce the comics for the HALLOWEEN COMICFEST so we will not have comics to give out this year. Now the good news, OF COURSE we still want to see all of your great costumes, but it will have to be done within the tenets of social distancing and the rules for re-opening that we have been following (in-person store limits & mandatory mask wearing).

We LOVE the descent game and this stand-alone game within that universe sounds like loads of fun.

Mike Hoffman is back and paying homage to those amazing black-and-white horror mags from the 70s! Introducing Eyrie, created to honor the tradition of the WARREN mags, but also to break some new ground.
