Question/ Inquiry of the week: " I wore my invisalign until I saw my teeth shift straight, then I'd wear them once in a while" Answer: Patients should wear their retainers as instructed until the end of treatment. A visible shift of teeth is great progress, however the body needs a chance to readjust. Bone is constantly breaking down and building itself back up during treatment with invisible braces and needs an average of 6-8 weeks to stabilize. If the retainers are not worn... as directed during this healing time, the chance of relapse shoots up and there is a greater chance of failure of treatment (teeth will shift back into misaligned position). ***Please send/ post questions, you'll be helping others as well as yourself.
