Our hearts are heavy at the pain felt by the Black community. Racism is incompatible with our values and our mission to improve health. We are horrified at the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others. At dQ&A, our focus is on diabetes and healthcare but systemic inequality is itself a public health issue. We know that members of the Black community are disproportionately affected by diabetes. COVID-19 has only furthered inequities that a...lready existed. The health and well-being of Black lives are part of our responsibility. Going forward, we will increase our efforts to highlight the health disparities experienced in our community. We will bring these issues to the attention of industry leaders and patient advocacy groups. We will use our skills and resources to support individuals and organizations that are focused on improving health outcomes in Black communities. We will put metrics in place to measure and disclose our progress. We are committed to working towards a more equitable future in society and in diabetes. At home, we have been trying new ways to get some exercise. We like this "do-anywhere" workout. It takes 10 minutes, gets hearts pumping, and is a welcome break! Give it a try!

We are excited to see loosening on the requirements to get a Continuous Glucose Monitor for people with Medicare/Medicaid benefits. We hope that the changes we are seeing from COVID-19 set up a future of greater access to medications and devices for people with diabetes. https://diatribe.org/big-changes-centers-medicare-medicaid-

Thanks to the amazing participation of our community members, our work has remained mostly the same, we just miss seeing each other in person these days. We are incredibly thankful for the kind messages, emails, and notes from you all. Thank you for your participation and thank you for reaching out! Sending you our best, The dQ&A Team (Photos are from our company gathering late last year and from one of our many Zoom calls this year)

In response to the crisis caused by COVID-19, Eli Lilly and Company is introducing the Lilly Insulin Value Program, allowing anyone with commercial insurance an...d those without insurance at all to fill their monthly prescription of Lilly insulin for $35. The program is effective today and covers most Lilly insulins including all Humalog (insulin lispro injection 100 units/mL) formulations. See more

We wanted to share an amazing resource that we have found very useful from Diabetes Disaster Response regarding diabetes and the effects of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Learn more here! Coronavirus has touched many lives, and while it has not disrupted the manufacturing of diabetes medicines and supplies, it has affected some people’s experiences refilling their prescriptions. We reached out to our community to better understand the changes they are seeing. You can read more about our findings here: https://d-qa.com/covid19-pwd-supply-availability/ As always, we are immensely grateful to our community members for this insight. You are all in our thoughts and we hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.

We know you may be worried about coronavirus (COVID-19) and how best to take care of yourself and your diabetes in this time. We’d like to share some resources to ensure our community has access to the medications they need and information to stay safe. Please see the links in the comments to learn more. It is wise to ensure you have enough testing supplies, insulin, and medications to last at least 2 weeks. If you are unable to with your current prescription, your doctor may... be able to help fill a special prescription. If that fails, try contacting your local JDRF chapter or American Diabetes Association office they are frequently able to connect you to someone in your area. 1. To protect their patients, CVS and Walgreens have both decided to waive home delivery fees for prescription drugs. 2. If you are feeling sick or displaying symptoms, insurance companies are waiving co-pays and extending coverage for coronavirus. Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries will also have testing and treatment covered. 3. For more updates and best practices to keep you and your families safe, check out the CDC’s dedicated webpage. 4. To learn more about other preparations you may wish to make, diaTribe posted a great article about diabetes + COVID-19. In the dQ&A office, we are working from home for the next few weeks and avoiding any travel. Notwithstanding the whirlwind, we are looking forward to hearing from you all in our next survey! As always, if you have any questions, you can send us an email or a FB message. Wishing you health, happiness (and peace!) in this time, -The dQ&A Team
