She has been a bookstore assistant manager, a Human Resources Director, an elementary school teacher in San Jose, and a mom. As a child, Linda always loved to write. She still has her first story, written in early elementary school on newsprint paper in pink crayon. It’s about a pig with a curly tail. Linda took her first creative writing course in seventh grade, accumulating a closet full of stories that she never showed anyone until she was an adult. For several years, she participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) with her students, challenging them, as a class, to match individual her word count for the month. Sometimes they did, sometimes they didn’t. Linda’s favorite subject has always been writing, and someday she hopes to see books written by former students alongside hers on bestseller lists. Linda Ulleseit recently retired from teaching. Now she has plenty of time to write her new novel and market her published ones. She has three young adult historical fantasies, set in medieval Wales, that feature flying horses. Under the Almond Trees is a historical novel set in pioneer California. It follows the lives of three strong women, a suffragette, an architect, and a photographer. Her most recent novel, The Aloha Spirit is set in territorial Hawaii and came out in August of 2020 from She Writes Press. Linda is currently working on a story set in 1835 Minnesota. She lives in San Jose, California, with her husband of 39 years and a spoiled yellow Labrador. Please join us for this wonderful event.

so many of you asked who Despina Gallmeister was when I posted she passed away - I recently was reminded of something and Iwould like to share. She was very involved in the Daughters of Penelope both locally and in the District. She was so involved that she was nominated for any acquired the title of District #21 Penelope of the year!. A wonderful accomplishment. Thank you Desi for your contributions and your work notonly for the Daughters of Penelope but for our Daphne chapter as well. My God rest your soul.

Sisters, I would like to thank everyone who attended our Zoom Meeting on November 17th. It was a very nice meeting in attendance was Kathy Bizoukas, Grand Vice President who spoke on the new membership initiative DOPopoly. It is going to be a very fun way to advance or Daughters chapter to grow. Also in attendance was our District Advisor, Sister Foula Vasiliorgis, PDG. I have added something new to the agenda. At each meeting I will place the name of whomever atte...nds the meeting in a bowl and pull a name the lucky name pulled will win a prize. Joanna Dunn was the winner of this month’s raffle this was her prize: Come and find out what the organization you belong to is up to and join in on the fun! Save the Date: January 2nd, 2021. The Daughters of Penelope Daphne Chapter will have a gift exchange we chose this day to keep with the Greek tradition of St. Basil the one to bring gifts to the children. It will be a virtual gift exchange and we hope you will join the fun. Complete details of this event will be announced on December 1, 2020. Save the Date: February 5th Virtual Bingo. We have a fun evening planned so save the date and look for more information the end of December, 2020!

On October 2nd, Mrs. G, Desi Gallmeister (Despina), passed away. We are going to miss her carefree spirit, her style and her zest for life. She was a wonderful member of the Daughters of Penelope - may God rest her soul.
