The holidays are here, ready or not. This will be a different kind of Christmas for all of us. For our Deli, this will be number 37! Thirty seven holiday seasons in the same location, same owner, same family, and many of the same wonderful customers who were here to eat a sandwich on our opening day. We will be open for catering, groceries, frozen dinners, amazing sandwiches, and salads Monday Tuesday Wednesday this week. We will be closed on Thursday and Friday to give our deli family a break and reopen Saturday morning at 10 AM.

After five months we are finally ready to be open once again seven days a week starting this Sunday. 10 AM till 4 PM Dominick’s is open Sundays again. Social distancing, constantly sanitizing, masks required and outdoor dining only. Plan ahead and let Dominick’s cater your safe holiday parties.

The weather has cooled but our food is hot. Hot pastrami sandwiches, hot meatball sandwiches, Italian sausage and bell peppers, barbecue beef sandwiches. A Strange year indeed, but 2020 will come to an end. Thanksgiving is on its way, Dominick’s Italian market has all the supplies you need to make wonderful Italian meals for your get-togethers. Christmas and New Year’s follow close behind and we have been catering Fallbrook Christmases for the last 37 years. Everyone loves our large 3, 4, 5 and 6 foot sandwiches but we make so many more things. Most popular last Christmas were our Antipasto trays with prosciutto, soppres...etta, hot salami, imported cheeses, Sicilian olives, artichoke hearts and roasted peppers, Like a charcuterie board on steroids. It seems like everyone is under a lot of stress, please treat people who are at work with kindness and respect. I know my Deli girls certainly appreciate your patience and generosity. There are some people who are not exactly kind and make it very difficult to do your job and keep smiling. remember we are all in the same boat stress wise. Yes we are having a hot spell, heat wave for the next eight or nine days. If it’s too hot to cook Dominick‘s is open for your dinner needs. Our freezers are full of take-home entrées you can microwave, along with pizza dough pizza sauce and lots of other wonderful things awaiting your discovery. On the stay at home days when it’s just too hot give us a call and we will have your take out order waiting for you. And yes it is CANNOLI FRIDAY. So it’s getting darker a little earlier, things are slowing down in the evenings as people come home to enjoy their family. As always Dominick‘s will change our hours starting October 1 we will be closing Monday through Friday at 7 o’clock instead of 8 PM. so we are not open 10 AM till 7 PM Monday through Saturday and still closed on Sunday. Due to the extreme heat, and our damn air conditioners all going out the deli is over 100 inside and we will be closing at 4 o’clock today. On this day 37 years ago we opened for the first time in Fallbrook, in a small 800 square-foot location on S. Mission Rd. We only had two tables and we had just finished two months of hard work to pass health inspection and county codes. Exhausted but ready for our first day of operation in Fallbrook we turned the closed sign to open and prayed people would come and give us just one chance to make them a sandwich. Good morning Fallbrook. Things are changing in the health department, restaurant, food service industry. Dining areas are open with many rules and regulations to keep it separate safe and comfortable. That being said I would like to mention a few things that mean a lot to me. Many of my employees have worked for me between 6 and 12 years, my manager Dana has worked for me for over 33 years , my son Dominick has just come back to help me run the Deli and become a permanen...t fixture as I ease into retirement whenever that actually happens. So my big point here is I care very very much for each one of these employees and my son. Many of my customers have been coming in for up to 37 years, and each of them is very important to me as well. So to get to the point, these measures that the state and county health department have put forward should go a long way to help ensure the safety of everyone who works for me, and everyone who walks in our doors. So please for your sake and ours, *Wear a mask until you’re seated, if you are taking food to go, wear one while in the store. *Wash your hands frequently * continue social distancing and keep 6 feet from others if you’re not wearing a mask, even outside. OK Fallbrook, yes it is hot. And yes we have cold beer, cold drinks, cold sandwiches, cold salads and frozen entrées. Yes you can buy sliced meats and cheeses and even our bread to take on a picnic or we will make sandwiches for you to take on your picnic even if it is just in your backyard. Yes we still have bread flour, pizza flour, all purpose white flour, yeast and just a few rice and beans in 25 lb packages. Open 10-8 weekdays and 10-7 on Saturday. Good morning, well things are slowing down in the kitchen staples department. Not sure why maybe everyone in Fallbrook has flour beans and rice now. We have about 10 - 25 pound bags of flour, about four bags of 50 pounds of bread flour, 4 -25 pound bags of pinto beans, 3 - 25 pound bags of rice. We also have 14 flats of eggs.@ $9.00. No yeast yet still hoping to get some. All those things are extra that we don’t normally carry and I’m not sure I will be re-ordering them. ... Business nightmare morning, my bakery called me at 5:30 this morning to say his bakery has no power. Unfortunately there is no bread to make sandwiches with today, Dominick’s will be closed today. Abbreviated Bio Hi, I own Dominick’s Sandwiches and Italian Delicatessen. In 1977 I was a Boilermaker in the San Diego Harbor working on Aircraft carriers, inhaling asbestos and just sick of the twelve hour shifts working for the Man. My Mother and Father lived in Orange County. Dad was unemployed and Mom worked at Fullerton Hospital. We were talking one night and I was ready for a change at 24 years old and my Dad said I should go and check out Boulder creek in the Santa ...Cruz mountains. My favorite jobs were always working with food and customer service. My parents said they would go In halves to open an Italian deli in this beautiful small town in the redwoods. Forward six months April 1, 1978 Dominick’s Sandwiches opens on hwy 9 in downtown Boulder creek with Mom and I as sole operators. Dad said if we made $100.00 dollars on opening day he would put their home in Yorba Linda on the market. We Did and he did. Five years later working 10 to 12 hour days we were quite successful but Dad and Mom hated the rain and dreary redwoods so we began to search for a southern Ca. Location. July 6th 1983 Dominicks Sandwiches and Delicatessen opened on South Mission road in the Friendly Village of Fallbrook. All recipes were from my Grandmother and my Moms kitchen. We have been making my Grandmas spaghetti sauce with meatballs and everything on our menu for 42 years total, 36 1/2 years in our Village. Mom and Dad have both passed and now my son (another Dominick) is working with me and my Manager of over 30 years Dana Fields getting ready for another 35 years. My thanks and love goes out to the hundreds of hard working Deli employees who have helped make all of this possible.
