There are some exciting new classes that will be starting soon at Dog Logic U! Foundation Agility Saturdays from 11:00-12:00... This class will go over all the behaviors that lay the foundation for your agility journey. With a strong foundation and understanding of how to handle your dog around the course, you and your dog will be set up for success as you begin tackling the many agility obstacles in your path in future classes. Novice Rally-Obedience Saturdays from 12:30-1:30 Rally-O is a fantastic dog sport for anyone that wants to strengthen their dog's obedience work and have some fun at the same time. The dog and handler learn to work together to complete a course of signs set out by the judge. At each station, the team must complete the behaviors shown on the signs. This novice level class will get you started on your way to learning the behaviors needed to compete at the beginning levels of this sport. Even if you don't want to compete, this class will build you and your dog's confidence and help to solidify key obedience behaviors. Rally-O is great for older dogs as it is not physically demanding like agility. Intro to Parkour Saturdays from 2:00-3:00 What is Parkour? Urban agility! You and your dog learn to use the world around you as your agility course. In this class, you will learn how to get your dog to confidently interact with their surroundings and turn every walk into an adventure. Safety will be a key component of this course, as your dog learns to jump, balance, and climb. Space in each class is limited to a maximum of 6 students. If you are interested in signing up, please email us to find out how to reserve a spot. :)
Imagine being left alone for 8 hours a day with absolutely nothing to do. No TV to watch, no book to read and no computer to surf the net. You would be bored an...d your day would feel endless. Dogs, like people, need things to do to keep them occupied. They crave exercise and mental challenges. If you don’t give them something fun to do, they will find something to do on their own. And it will usually be something that you do not approve of. Give your dog legal outlets for their favorite activities such as chasing things, chewing, scavenging for food, or digging. Feed meals from work-to-eat toys instead of using a bowl, or toss kibble in the grass for them to search and find. Fetch or flirt pole games are fun for dogs who love to chase things. A digging pit will give dogs who like to dig the chance to engage in this fun activity. There are a wide variety of toys on the market. Figure out the type that your dog likes best and stock up on them. In addition to walks, where they are given lots of time to sniff, take them jogging or hiking. Include them in as many activities as you can. If your dog is dog friendly, there is nothing better than off-leash play with other friendly dogs. A well-exercised dog who regularly engages in favorite dog specific activities will be calmer, quieter, happier, healthier and better behaved. Let them play. Let them have fun. #letthemplay
