Year-End Donation Appeal for DMTC #DMTC #donation #Broadway

Davis Musical Theatre Company (DMTC) 12.12.2020

Just 24 hours left to donate to DMTC for this calendar year of 2020 https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?donation=dmtc DMTC Year-end Donations... (from board member Don Draughon) We at Davis Musical Theatre Company (DMTC) appreciate your patronage in 2020. On March 8, 2020 we had the final live performance of our 35th season, Camelot, before we had to shut down the theatre due to the risk of infection from the pandemic. Everything since has been virtual. By far the bulk of our income is from ticket sales for our live shows which ended with Camelot. Since then, we have had nowhere near the income DMTC requires to pay its bills. As the year ends, we look to your generosity to save our theatre. Now is the time to make a last-minute donation for this tax season and to make certain DMTC can continue to present live musical theatre. I am Don Draughon, the DMTC board member drafting this letter. I have also been a performer, assistant stage manager, and sound operator for the theatre. I was Sir Dinadan in Camelot. I love this theatre. We put out seven Main Stage, and six Young Performers Theatre (YPT) productions a year along with other performances. During the YPT production of The Wizard of Oz I brought a friend and her two granddaughters, one challenged by a body she cannot control while retaining her mental faculties. This child’s joy from watching this delightful entertainment was a great attestation to how important DMTC is to this community. DMTC is an all-volunteer organization, except for our piano player who receives a small stipend. Donations are used to fund both mainstage and youth programs, including the cost of sets, costumes, piano players, and royalties. Our biggest fixed cost is our rent, which exceeds $11,000 per month. Without staging shows, our income is far below this amount. This so far virtual only 36th season for DMTC will be the last based on present financial projections. Our theatre is a non-profit corporation organized under the rules of the IRS 501(c)(3). Donations to DMTC are 100% tax deductible; the non-profit employer identification number is 68-0028068. Thank you for considering a year-end donation to DMTC.

#BLACKLIVESMATTER The stage is a place for all voices to be heard, which is why theaters must speak out in this moment. DMTC has always been committed to being supportive, inclusive, open and welcoming. We are committed to hearing and telling the stories of our community. Our diversity is our strength. We believe voices carry power, and today we raise ours in support of the fight against the racism and injustice that continues to plague our country. Racism should not have a place on the world’s stage, and it certainly does not have a place on our stage either. To our Black artists, patrons, volunteers and friends: your lives matter. Black Lives Matter.
