October 15, 1978, is the day my dad's dreams came true. He and his wife, Margaret, opened their butcher shop. Dittmer stated that the first two months he did not sleep stressing over if he made the right decision. His fears subsided a few weeks later when he began seeing returning customers. As their business grew steadily, Dittmer began making more old-world products that he had learned in Germany. Those first products, Bratwurst, Leberkase, German Salami, Frankfurters are still some of our most popular products. 42 years of good food.

Today DIttmer's is making a few hundred pounds of sausage, smoked sausages coming out of the smokehouse, and cured pork chops going into the smokehouse. Lachschinken is starting its drying process which will take a few weeks before it is done. Smoked Salmon vacuum packed. All made with pride in Los Altos. A small window into our meat world.

Lachsschinken , a cured, smoked and air dried lunch meat still needs to air dry for a few weeks.

Dittmer's Hot Coppa is rubbed with paprika, cayenne peppers, and crushed red peppers before it is put in the smokehouse. This week it is on special for $8.69lb until Oct 10th.
