Dinuba police have arrested one man and are searching for another vehicle in connection with the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in the 500 block of West El Monte Way on Tuesday night. Police said the first vehicle that struck the unidentified victim at around 10:30 p.m. was described as a gray Ford F-150. According to witnesses, the driver of that truck attempted to help move the injured pedestrian out of the road and then fled the scene heading west on West El Monte Way. ...Witnesses to the collision then came from across the street to render aid to the injured pedestrian, according to police. While one of the witnesses was trying to help the pedestrian and attempting to slow down traffic, a second vehicle struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian later was pronounced dead at the scene. The identification is being withheld pending notification of family. A short time later, the driver of the second vehicle, 25-year-old Isaac Hernandez, turned himself in at the Dinuba Police Department. #BREAKING The California Highway Patrol has reported that a 27-year-old, Reedley woman is dead following an accident on Highway 99 just north of Manning Avenue. The woman was not involved in the initial accident but stopped to offer help to one of the accident victims and was struck by a vehicle while doing so. ... The first crash happened just after midnight last night, this is when police say the driver of a Hyundai Elantra and a Volvo tractor trailer pulling a semi-trailer collided. The driver of the Hyundai suffered major injuries and their car became disabled on the freeway as a result of the crash. Following that crash, a separate car, carrying the 27-year-old Reedley woman stopped at the scene. The woman was the passenger in that vehicle. The woman exited the vehicle to assist the driver of the Hyundai still in their vehicle and still on the freeway. A red SUV then drove past the accident site and struck the woman, killing her on impact. The driver of that SUV then stopped his car for several seconds, exited his vehicle- and then got back into his car and fled the scene. The SUV is described as a red or burgundy Ford Explorer type car with damage to the left front fender and hood area, witnesses describe the driver as a white male adult. The CHP is looking for public assistance in locating the hit and run driver and vehicle. If anyone has information regarding the red SUV or it’s driver, please call the Fresno Area CHP at (559) 262-0400
