The Medicinal Plant Hike on Saturday Sept 7th was joyful for many. The morning began with an introduction in the amphitheater. Dr. James Adams shared his backg...round studying with a Chumash shaman and Enrique Villasenor demonstrated a Chumash healing with a sage leaf. On the hike we discussed California Sagebrush, Laurel Sumac, Black and White Sage, Gypsum (Datura), Coast Live Oak and how they are used in traditional Chumash and Chinese medicine. We also learned how to make a health smoothie using the nopal (paddle leaf) of the Opuntia ficus-indica (prickly pear) plant. Thank you everyone that attended. See more
