Ronald’s surgery went well and he is back in his foster home, where he will spend the next 8 weeks recovering We can’t thank everyone enough for your well wishes and donations Without our awesome supporters we wouldn’t be able to give these guys the chance they so deserve
Ok Facebook Warriors meet Ronald. He joined our rescue this past week after being attacked and suffering from 2 broken legs and multiple wounds. However that did not break his spirit, he kept giving kisses and tail wags. Thank you to Valley Veterinary Clinic for quickly getting him stabilized and giving him a chance. Ronald is scheduled for orthopedic surgery down at VCA Valley Oak Veterinary Center on February 25. Keep checking back for Ronald’s progress
What else do you call a kitten with this kinda pelvis but Squish. This amazing gal joined us a few weeks ago and has been quickly recovering her strength. We don’t know what her story was before we met her but she was found in a trailer park covered in a black greasy material. She was only 1.9 lbs, had an enormous abscess on her back and a laundry list of fractures (pelvis, hip, tail, etc) that xrays showed had likely happened weeks before! But boy could this girls loud purrs melt hearts. Squish is now waiting her appointment at the ortho specialist to do a procedure on her hip and evaluate her ankle joints ligament damage. But she is the typical four month old active kitten who loves to play, climb and eat!
Summer’s surgery went great yesterday and this morning she is back to her happy happy self. She has a cool new 8 inch scar and bright outlook. We’re so thankful for everyone who donated for us to be able to get this girl the care she needs. Lab rescue heard about Summer’s story and have generously offer to take her into their organization so it will open up our fosters for the next deserving pet!
This sweet lab face belongs to our latest rescue, Summer. She was surrendered to the shelter by her owners because they weren’t able to get veterinary care for a rupture mass on her back. Summer was an outside only dog so now she learning all the great things that come with the cushy indoor life. This 10 year old beauty has that great lab personality. Friendly, gentle and has been great with kids, cats and other dogs. Summer is scheduled surgery on her lump Wednesday so send her some positive vibes.
Meet this cute little ragtag bunch of pups. They seem to be a little bit of every breed, a real Heinz 57 mix. Since we don't know exactly what they are, we've named them "Doohickey", "Thingamabob", "Thingamajig", "Whatsit" and "Whatchamacallit" They will be turning 8 weeks old soon and are looking for new homes. We expect them to be active, medium sized dogs. Email us if you'd be interested in adoption.
Maverick has found his forever homeWe couldn’t be happier and little jealous, who wouldn’t want to live within walking distance of the beach Thank You Jeff for inviting him into your family.
Thank you to all who donated for North State Giving Tuesday. It was a Huge Success.Thank you to all who donated for North State Giving Tuesday. It was a Huge Success.
Say hello to a couple of newbies These two recently joined our rescue with some medical issues and in need of some TLCTeddy is a sweet, gentle fella and will be available for adoption soon. Scuttle is afunny, goofy little fella. He will be with us a little while longer, as he still needs surgery.
Maverick is happy to say he has been cleared for adoption. He can’t thank everyone enough for all their support and donations towards his recovery. It has been a long haul of surgeries and rehab, but he has been a trooper through it all. He is ready to give love to family of his own. He is a typical cattle dog, always on the go and needs plenty of stimulation.
Meet another newcomer. This is Snuggles. She is an adult, special needs, Guinea Pig. She is very sweet and loves to be petted. Looking for someone to love and spoil her. We prefer no young children as she has a possibly permanent injury, which limits her mobility with the rear legs. And someone with Guinea Pig care would be great as well. Otherwise has a great appetite and personality. She was brought into the county shelter as a "Stray". She couldn't use her back legs and was malnourished. DPR stepped in and now she is ready for her perfect person/family to adopt her. She can now use legs partially and gets where she wants to go in her own special way. And with good nutrition, her personality is coming out. If you are looking for a little furry friend, email us at deservingpetsrescue.com for more information.
Rub-a-Dub Dub. Three kittens in a tub, and who do you think they be? Some people think that it takes a lot of space to foster but sometimes it just takes a creative approach! We’re fostering this trio for the Tehama County Animal Care Center after a dog discovered them in an RV park. The one grey girl (check out her crooked question mark tail?) and her two tabby brothers will be ready for adoption just before Christmas
Sly here reminding everyone to get out and VOTE today!
For fosters, they say goodbye is the goal. Today, our gorgeous Greta is on to her next chapter with a new family. This amazing dog has had such a transformation and we’re so happy she will be loved and spoiled in her new home.
We’re so happy that Maggie is on her way to a new foster to love and spoil her for her remaining time. A HUGE thank you to Annalisa for stepping up and opening her home to this special gal. Deserving Pets Rescue will continue to supply any veterinary care, medications or food for Maggie and we appreciate all the donations that make this possible.
Who could this dashing young man be? Why that is our little Sly guy all glowed-up. Sly joined our rescue months ago when he was found in someone's backyard. He was paralyzed, with multiple fractures to his hip, front leg, ribs and tail. It was obvious from his injuries that he had been the victim of animal abuse. With lots of care and rehab he began to relearn to use his legs after a week (see his video in the comments) and never looked back. He is now seven months old and the most affectionate guy. He always wants to be with people, on you lap or pat your feet. He is fostered with other cats and dogs. He is felv negative, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. Email us if you might be in the market for this handsome, charismatic feline.
We had some tough news to share about our dear sweet Maggie. She came to us in bad shape with a large infected hole in her side infested with maggots and filth. After the past few month of tlc and a surgery to remove the mass, we got back her pathology report and it’s not what we had hoped for. Her lump is an invasive spindle cell carcinoma which, although not likely to metastasize had a high rate of recurrence. Just a few weeks after her surgery, we could see the regrowth wh...ich is now the size of a fist. Sometimes when we bring a senior dog into our care, we find out they have a life threatening medical condition. For some of our dogs who are expected to live only a few months, we provide Hospice Care. Providing Hospice Care for a dog is a big commitment and a rewarding experience. If you are interested in providing foster care for a dog for the last several months or more of their life, contact us. As with all foster assignments, DPR will cover all medical expenses for dogs in hospice care.
ADOPTER UPDATE-Atlas (in the middle),formally known as Dale, was a puppy that you all rescued that was found wandering the streets with his sister having sustained a broken jaw. He is now the light of my life and is my constant companion. I wanted to thank you all for the work that you do, that without which I would not have the pleasure of being this beautiful boys mama! Thank you so much! -We love a good happy tale
Thanks for all the great name suggestions for our new little guy. Since we’ve previously had a kitten named Walnut who came from similar circumstances (I guess these places are popular with momma cats), we’re naming him CHANDLER. He got to meet our other orange and white fella, SLY, this evening and looks like his mini me! As you can see they didn’t know what to think of each other but we’re sure they will soon be fast friends.
Wants hear something nuts? This little guy mom left him in a walnut processing plant when he was just a few days old. Luckily someone found him before anything bad happed. They kept him safe until we could find a foster. He is about 4 weeks old and still needs a name. Help us choose one by putting suggestions below!
Greta is doing amazing after her surgery to remove a couple of mammary tumors. She may look a little serious in this photo but catching cookies requires laser focus. Were ready to start looking for a new home for this special lady. Greta is about 8 years old, weights 75 lbs, is great with other dogs/cats/kids, affectionate, gentle, house trained, excellent manners, loves a good game of fetch, long walks and car rides. She is on a special diet and medication to decrease stress on her kidneys. She’s a true jewel of a dog looking for a fantastic family to love her for the rest of her years.
This morning our little Sly guy took a road trip to UC Davis. He’ll be staying at the teaching clinic there and having an FHO, or femoral head ostectomy. This is a surgical procedure to restore pain-free mobility to his damaged hip, by removing the head and neck of the femur. We’re sure he’ll be a favorite of the veterinary students with his generous purrs and affectionate nature.
***OWNER FOUND***DO YOU RECOGNIZE ME? Found dog in Red Bluff Raley’s parking lot. She has injuries and is receiving veterinary care. We’d love to find this little ones owner. Contact Tehama County Animal Shelter at 530 527-3439
Greta enjoying the new autumn season! Our chocolate lab mom will be ready for a new home soon but we found a small mammary tumor that needs to be removed first. So a third surgery (she had a c-section and stomach torsion earlier this summer) will be in her future. Through it all Greta has been a charmer, the perfect foster, great with everyone she meets and gorgeous inside and out.
Sly and Pearl are celebrating the first day of Fall with a little Pumpkin Spice Latte. This will be the third season Pearl has been with us since she joined us in April. She is 6 months old now and a really sweet, social, sophisticated girl ready to make a family very happy. Sly is scheduled to have his hip surgery at the beginning of October and will be ready for a family soon after. This pair win he cutest couple award and would love to be adopted together. Hint, Hint
