What a way to end the day! Emma Mann-Meginniss (Oakland, CA) soared to the tri-color win in the CPHA Style of Riding Championships against a field of seventy-five horse and rider combinations on Friday night. "I am too old to be doing the big equitation now but it is ok. It feels like I get to do it all over again... To come back to this and focus on the fundamentals of the discipline has been wonderful," mentioned Mann-Meginniss.... With two beautiful rounds, the winner of the $2,500 USHJA National Hunter Derby, sponsored by John Bijlard Sport Horses, was Jenny Karazissis aboard Bellamywith a combined total score of 177. "I just love the derbies. I have been doing them for quite a while and they just don't get boring," mentioned Karazissis. "They are something I look forward to every time and especially with a horse like Really in the Internationals and Bellamy in the Nationals. It is nice to ride on...e that is capable and you know what their ins and outs are." The second place winner was Parris Cozart Collins aboard Uno Mas with a two round total score of 171.5. The curse of the $250,000 Grand Prix... I’ve never had so much trouble giving away $250,000 in my life. The good news is, it won’t be so hot this weekend. The bad news is there will be some wind. There is forecast for potential winds Friday afternoon through Sunday. As we typically do, we’ll implement our wind protocol. All tents will be checked. Signs and trash cans will be removed as needed. Sand bags will be placed by the rings should they be needed for the jumps.
