Thank you to @verandamag for sharing our Picasso piece in their recent online feature 17 Amazing Sites That Let You Buy Art Directly From Your Sofa. Femme a la Mantille- Carmen is from Picasso’s unique folio of works entitled Le Carmen de Carmen and features the timeless story of Carmen which became popular through George Bizet’s opera from 1875. The story invoked in Picasso associations with his country of Spain and the corrida or bullfight. Published in 1945, this beautiful aquatint was created by Picasso and his favorite printer Aldo Crommelynck. Unsigned (as issued) and numbered in pencil lower left. DM for more information. #verandamag #picasso #etching #carmen

Courage is a kind of Salvation. Plato Nothing worthwhile springs from fear. Fear is the serpent in the garden, the hole in the boat, the flaw in the plan - it can steer us from danger, but ungoverned by courage it is just as likely to steer us toward a bad outcome. We all have the capacity to be brave, and it is by finding our courage that everything we value comes in to being there can be no love without courage, no kindness without courage, no creativity without coura...ge. As we all face this crisis of unusual Hope, we are all living as the figures in Richard MacDonald’s Blind Trust. The figures wear blindfolds, and cannot see. They are balancing precariously on an unstable cube. They are keeping multiple balls aloft: juggling, as a metaphor for tasks and responsibilities, cares and concerns. The serenity of these figures speak to the active drawing on the inner strength in the face of these unsettling realities. It is the working of the inner person that keeps the balls from falling, the figure from toppling, and the blindfold from hampering the vision of the desired result. In Richard MacDonald’s Blind Trust we see a tangible representation of what every human being is capable of doing conquering fear with faith, and going forward not with perfect vision of the future but with a firm commitment to the future we will create. While we respond to the pressures and fears of the current situation, let’s keep the image of Blind Trust in our mind’s eye, and remember that we have within us the unerring ability to maintain balance, courage and stand strong. Blind Trust, Atelier is available as a limited-edition bronze. The piece will measure 19.5 x 15 x 5.5. Please DM or email [email protected] for details. Now, more than ever, art is a salvation a way to connect. In the words of one of our special collectors the connection with Art is now stronger than ever before. We hope that you stay well and find a greater sense of comfort and determination as we overcome these challenging times together. Richard MacDonald Jr. Dawson Cole Fine Art

With 2020 off to a great start, we reflect back on the special events hosted at Dawson Cole Fine Art during the close of 2019. Over 450 guests joined us to cele...brate Richard MacDonald’s show A Convergence of Spires where the sculptor unveiled his newest sculpture releases including the Gathering of Graces, Origins, Venus and Ethereal Embrace among others. The newest works drew great applause and many were personally signed by the artist to collectors that evening. Los Angeles Principal Dancer, Petra Conti, gave a stunning performance from Dying Swan. In addition, Richard MacDonald’s model for his newest exquisite piece Venus Kelly Grayson (and philanthropist) joined the celebration to discuss insights into the newest release and artist’s studio. In early December, Dawson Cole Fine Art hosted the 4th Annual Holiday show to benefit the Boys & Girls Club, Laguna Beach and Olive Crest. Dancers from the Festival Ballet Theatre performed vignettes from The Nutcracker which were the highlight of the event. Broadway Restaurant, Dr. Zein Obagi from the ZO Clinic and The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, among others partnered to make this a successful night where guests won an array of exciting items including a stay at The Ritz-Carlton property. President Dawson MacDonald of the Dana Hills High School Club Olive Crest and officers collected toys, gift cards and clothing to donate to both organizations. We greatly appreciate everyone's generosity and the abundance of gifts collected. We hope you will plan to join us for these exciting events in 2020! Please Save the Dates for Richard MacDonald’s Annual One Man Show on November 14 & 15th and our Holiday Show on Thursday, December 3rd. We look forward to seeing you!
