The Friday question. November is right around the corner so it is time to start the DMT push to assist new riders and returning riders to take the first step to finding settings of their own beginning with ergonomics. Yes - the question is will you pay it forward this weekend ... By Monday, please post a picture of you with a new rider and I will give then a free set up in the next 5 days! I also made the promise that if you get 20 riders together I will donate 30 minutes of my time for a free Ask Dave session and will coordinate this no matter where you are in the world. You can be creative with setting up a Zoom Conference to invite me to or you can do it as a gathering. Let's begin November with many new riders starting their journey and thank you for paying it forward!

The first in a now iconic line from KTM brings nothing but smiles to the owner!

The beginning of an iconic legacy. https://davemosstuning.com/2-clicks-out-ktm-990-super-duke/ I do not know any owner of a 990 that did not smile post DMT set up. I also do not know how many of them got in trouble from the front wheel being unable to stay on the ground going away from traffic lights....... :... No matter what you ride - ergonomic and suspension set up is the best money you can spend on your motorcycle! Feed your brain, love your motorcycle more!

This is the bike that I was hired to set up for the owner at Thunderhill West. It is a long way from stock with a huge list of extras. The Bike formerly belonged to AFM racer Mike Ramsey and is a beautifully prepared race bike. What do I do when setting up a bike?... 1. Check initial geometry, log all settings, assess rebound damping. 2. Ride for 5-7 laps to get oil temp to optimal on track then come in to set rebound damping perfectly and assess fork and shock travel used. 3. Make appropriate changes to preload and compression. 4. Ride 4-5 laps at 90% pace to assess gearing & find repeatable problems, return to the pits. Make changes as needed. 5. Ride 3-4 laps top validate changes and confirm baseline. 6. Three laps at 95% for validation ride. Next up? Test at the Thunderhill 3 mile East track where AFM races. Go through the same process again but starting further along due to the established baseline.

It is rare, but I do put bikes on track and dial them in for the owner in 1-2 hour time spans. I am the last bike through :)
