At Howards Trailer Park in Daggett, unknown date, don't know the people.
Does anyone know the name of the House Trailer Company that built trailers in the old Airport Hangers ?
Barstow/Daggett Airport, the old Hangers are gone.
Long Gone. It was the second one built in Daggett California, both burned.
Daggett, unknown date.
More pictures of Calico 1986. Boy how things have changed. CALICO - History at its best!
The year is 1986, see anybody you know?
Daggett. Around 2011.
115 years ago to this day, just about after 3:55 PM PST after leaving Barstow, this train would’ve raced right through Daggett, California, with Santa Fe 1000 Class Prairie (2-6-2) locomotive #1005 at the head going straight to Needles with Death Valley Scotty on board. Imagine what a sight that must’ve been... :)
What an awesome Christmas present! Low cost, easy to maintain, won't break and lasts a life time? HISTORY - The gift that keeps on giving.
Thanks Gayle for this cool piece of family history as we celebrate July 4th. Have a great day, and as they say you kids don't try this at home.
Our meetings are postponed for the next two months, with a wait and see on what September brings. Remember Daggett Days will not be held this year but that only gives more time to make it bigger and better. In the interest of safety and the holiday we will not have the museum open this weekend. ... A big Thank You to the Daggett CSD for allowing the display of the 1956 Seagraves that is now parked in the yard at the information center (Beryl's house). A big Thanks to Barstow Towing for moving the vehicles that are now on display at the information center. Thanks to everyone for the continued support and a special thanks for our awesome monthly newsletter. The history of Daggett and Calico is beyond amazing and everyday more and more is uncovered. Stay tuned for the real Dorsey Dog tale, Route 66 comes alive in Daggett, and a real running stamp mill is coming to Daggett. Stay safe and have a great 4th!
Looking for something to do this Saturday? The Daggett Museum will be OPEN from 11am to 4pm, Please wear a mask and there is plenty of room for distancing. Please, come visit us!
Don't forget the tour of the old Route 66 historic ski-slope house and adjacent gas station tonight at 6:00 PM, but while you wait, our June newsletter has now been emailed. Read all about the history of those lakes in Newberry Springs. It will make you want to jump in and cool off!
At the 6pm Thursday June 4th DHS meeting you have the opportunity to take a walk through the historic ski-slope house (Beryl Bell's old house) and the old gas station next door. This house was originally a Welcome and Information Office associated with the first California Agricultural Inspection Station along Route 66. We ask you follow spacing and bring a mask when going through the house, with one way in and out. Not that there is a lot to see but the gas station will als...o be open to see it before being put back to period. Both locations need a lot of work but we have great expectations and the opportunity for Daggett to shine. If you come please park either in front of the house or on the side of the Mugwumps gas station next door (West side). Do NOT park at the gas station across the street. Also, we will not be meeting at the Community Center. See more
Great News! This iconic house will be preserved and will eventually be a visitors center here in Daggett, California! Also the service station next door is being saved by the same folks! Thanks Daryl Schendel for the tour!
Daggett, California.
REMINDER - We are still following guidelines, NO May Society meeting, sorry!
Imagine having a conversation, '132 years ago,' with a 20 Mule Team Mule Skinner?I’m a muleskinner, proud to be one and good at my job. I don’t skin mules--I drive ‘em, that’s what muleskinner means.
I just posted a photo album full of BUNCHES of photos from about 1908 taken in the Daggett area. Enjoy!
