We could not be any prouder of our wonderful teachers. They often go far beyond their responsibilities during the academic year and support their students and their families with true dedication and love for our Czech community in the Bay Area. This year, our teacher Blanka, who teaches some of our youngest students, established her own initiative of a summer of learning. Due to high demand from our families, her Setkani s Broucky sessions regularly ran every Saturday through...out the summer holidays. Listening to our families and taking into account the fact that many could not travel back to the Czech Republic to visit their relatives this year, Blanka entertained and educated our preschool crowd of children with songs, storytime, and plenty of impromptu dancing. Her summer sessions have attracted their own following from way beyond the Bay Area through personal recommendations and social media, and many are now eager to join the upcoming fall semester. And we welcome them all. Here is a BIG thank you to Blanka and all our wonderful teachers!

For the first time in our history, the Czech School of California is starting a new school year fully #online! Due to the restrictions currently imposed on our local districts and the evolving situation regarding Covid-19, we are fully opening our classes online. Our team of dedicated teachers will be offering 60-90 minute classes to our students on Saturdays via Zoom. We will be opening our preschool group Broucci (children 3 - 6 years) and our school-age groups Mysaci (1st to 6th grade of Czech elementary school). Mají Vaše dti rády eské veerníky?

Zlatou stuhu za nakladatelský poin letos obdržela nádherná kniha Historie ech v USA od uznávané autorky a ilustrátorky Renáty Fuíkové. Knihu je možné zakoupit za $35 (+poštovné). V pípad zájmu nám do konce týdne pošlete své objednávky (k dispozici je i pár anglických výtisk).

I tuto sobotu se vaše dti mžou pipojit k našim nejmenším studentm online a mžou si tak vyzkoušet naši tídu "Brouk" pod vedením paní uitelky Blanky. Tuto sobotu, 30.5.2020 od 9:30am (PST) si budou dti povídat o písmenku Ž. Co všechno zaíná na Ž, jaké vci, jaká jména nebo místa. Petou si pohádku Žába na prameni a zazpívají si písniku Žežuliko, kde jsi byla. Dtem prosím vytisknte piložený pracovní list, aby mohly bhem online školiky vybarvovat, vystihovat a lepit želviku. I naši nejmenší studenti "Brouci" se i pes naízenou karanténu pravideln úastní online vyuování se svou paní uitelkou Blankou. Každou sobotu od 9:30am (PT) tak probírají vždy jedno písmenko, zpívají písniky, pracují na výtvarném projektu a konverzují. Pokud byste se i vy chtli se svými dtmi k našim Broukm tuto sobotu pipojit, napište nám do komentá a my Vám pošleme odkaz na video konferenci (max. 10 nových student). Tuto sobotu budeme probírat písmenko U, zjistíme, co všechno zaíná na písmeno U, jaké vci, jaká jména nebo místa. Peteme si pohádku Ubrousku prosti se a zazpíváme si písniky Utíkej Káo, Už ty pilky doezaly apod.

Together, let’s pay tribute to those who gave their lives so that we may have freedom and peace. A powerful video remembering Victory Day in Europe, which marked the end of World War II seventy-five years ago today.

Another Saturday, another online class for our older students from "Myšáci" class. Our lovely teacher Jana is helping her 4th graders with their hard work from home and Anežka, our 3rd grader is showing us her writing skills from one of her writing assignments.

Our favorite CZECH THAT FILM festival's 2020 edition is taking place online! Each week you can watch one movie online from their program's selection. View the program at the official festival website: www.czechthatfilm.com This week, watch the "Old-Timers" (available April 27 May 3, 2020) http://www.czechthatfilm.com/films_5.html. This movie is a winner of 2019 Czech Film Critics' Awards for Best Film, Best Actor (Jií Schmitzer), and Best Director. This drama based on true events is about two former political prisoners seeking revenge for injustices done to them during the 1950s. Festival's team prepared a Q&A session with directors Martin Dušek and Ondej Provazník, that you can find on the website.

Our wonderful teacher Bara is regularly connecting with her students during these challenging times, so they can all continue with their Czech courses and get their "vysvdení" (report card) at the end of this semester.

Pamatujete si ale ješt, jak kluci paili ped 5 lety na prknách naší školy? Kdo si pamatuje, palec nahoru a kdo si nepamatuje, tady malé pipomenutí.
