Cub Scouts Pack 43 29.11.2020

Holding virtual meetings wasn't ideal, but thankfully our Dens and Pack 43 have been able to meet during these crazy times, have some fun together while learning new skills, and completing the requirements for their ranks. Congratulations to all those who will be receiving their ranks and adventure recognitions this week at our Pack Meeting/Ceremony! And best wishes to our Webelos 2's, who will be leaving our Pack and heading off to their new Troops for some new adventures. Do Your Best!

Just noticed that the Pioneer District - SVMBC created a short slideshow of Scout-o-Rama 3 years ago, and we were featured in the first two slides with our "Siege the Castle" catapult game. So sad that Scout-o-Rama was cancelled this year, but hopefully it (and we) will be back next year.

Cub Scouts Packs 43 and 32 (chartered by American Legion Post 419) have been decorating the headstones of our former Service Members at the Santa Clara Cemetery for many years, but unfortunately this year we will not be able to participate due of the COVID-19 pandemic. Those who served will always be in our hearts and minds, even if we must Shelter in Place this year. Thank you for your service, Ladies and Gentlemen. We hope to be back next year.

Pack 43 met on February 29th for our annual Blue & Gold Dinner and February Pack Meeting. This year's entertainment was by Mad Science (Bay Area). Their "Fire and Ice" show kept the Scouts quite enthralled with flash paper, dry ice, and a few other surprises. And the Scouts might just have learned a few new words like "sublimation." Oh those sneaky parents...... (Photos by Kiran Magar and Brad Wetmore)

Beautiful day for a hike on the Zinfandel Trail in Stevens Creek/Picchetti Ranch Parks, stopping at the Picchetti Winery picnic tables for lunch. This is a great hike for both ruggedness and scenery, and almost all on singletrack trail. Our route was starting at the Cooley Picnic Area, up the Zinfandel Trail, past the (dry) lake to Vista Trail, then down to the Winery. Then a straight shot back down the Vista Trail. Just under 4.1 miles and 300 feet of elevation gain.
