Purpose: The purpose of this 12-Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge, designed and inspired by Dr. Eddie Moore, is to be more involved with understanding your power in advocating for social justice. In these 12 days, you will learn to create effective social justice habits specifically focusing on dealing with issues of power, privilege, supremacy and leadership. As you develop these habits, it will assist you with creating a difference in the work that you do or will d...o as a professional in student affairs and within your community. This 12- day challenge will essentially provide you with resources to become a more effective player in the quest for equity and justice. How it Works: For 12 days, you will either read, listen to podcasts, watch videos, or complete any other form of activity that will deepen your community connections. In this challenge, you will find suggestions on the following categories: read, listen, watch, notice, connect, engage, act, and stay inspired. Each day you will mark off what you decided to participate in and then take a couple of minutes write a reflection. Jimmy decided to pursue a degree in Higher Education because he loves working with students and for students. He wants to work to make sure that students have the best chance possible to succeed in a higher education setting by providing them with the administrative support and resources they will need to thrive. Hedrick decided to pursue a graduate degree in Higher Education because he wants to inspire the next generations that they’re capable of achieving anything they put their minds to, and he wants to pay it forward to the few mentors he had that pushed him to keep going.
