Professor Blaine has THREE limericks for us today: A Trio of Limericks on Donne and Jonson Old Donne was often amused... At things that left others confused. He was terribly clever, But I think that he never Liked leaving interpretive clues. Ben Jonson preferred a plain style, But seldom brings students a smile. His lean verse and prose Make some readers doze, And others overtly hostile. But some of us love to read both, And I swear by my sincerest oath, That if you persever, In that grueling endeavor The result is intellectual growth.
