Monday Mobility with @vroses28 and @massage_and_movement_rx. #Repost @massage_and_movement_rx with @make_repost Back pain? Tight hips?... Here’s my go-to at home care for those suffering from hip tension and/or back pain Step 1 Roll it out! Grab a Lacrosse ball or some type of mobility rolling tool (tennis ball may be used if the lacrosse ball is too aggressive) Start with a general rollout of the gluteals (think somewhere between your front pocket and back hip pocket) Throw in some active engagement by bending and extending the leg while remaining still on a knot or tough spot for a few seconds. I suggest doing no more than 2 minutes of rolling this area *per side Step 2 Stretch it out! After rolling this area out I like to follow it up with a Pigeon Pose, a great multi-hip muscle stretch! When done correctly, pigeon pose can stretch the deep glutes, stretch the groin and the hip flexors , relieve impinged piriformis and may help alleviate sciatic pain. Pigeon Pose Tips Decrease the front knee angle to less than 90 degrees if you have any knee discomfort Start with your hands or elbows on the ground until you can comfortably allow your forehead to touch the ground and stretch out with the arms Focus on breathing comfortably in order to allow your muscles to sink into the stretch Build up to 2 minutes per side There are a few instances when pigeon pose should be avoided, including sacroiliac or back injury, ankle injury, certain knee injuries and extreme tightness in the hips. #endzone #crossfit #fitness #prehab

The coach we would like to highlight this week is John Johnny Salvador. My name is John, however I got the nickname Johnny from couple of the coaches here at Endzone and a few members. I was born and raised in Pittsburg, Ca. I have a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from San Francisco State University. It was a couple years after I had graduated high school that I discovered my passion for working out. My brother had introduced/taught me the Olympic weightlifting lifts (c...lean & jerk and snatch) and slowly introduced me to Crossfit. As much as I train, it brings me joy to see others wanting to improve their own lifestyle, grow, and get stronger. Growing up I played baseball and throughout high school I played tennis. Introducing the one, the only, Coach Vanessa fitNess Santillian. Vanessa is one of the group coaches and personal trainers at CrossFit Endzone. She graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology. She is CrossFit Level 2 certified as well as a NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist. Vanessa has experience working in all types of exercise settings: gyms, sports performance facilities, rehabilitative and functional fitness. Her passion in sports, exer...cise and helping others led her to pursue massage therapy and become a certified massage therapist and open Massage and Movement Rx. Vanessa’s athletic career started at a young age and included playing on a full contact women’s football team during college. She currently competes in CrossFit as a masters athlete and has previously competed at the CrossFit games at the team level. When she’s not at the gym or working with clients you can find Vanessa enjoying the outdoors with her partner, pups and pals. #endzone #crossfit #coach #fitNess
