Today we are celebrating sophomore John Zhang's Speech and Debate accomplishments! John received the Octo Finalist Trophy at the Cal State Invitational and placed third with the quarter finalist award in the La Reina Tournament. John is a member of the Law Cohort and tennis team! Junior Kat Cheng was recognized as one of 40 winners of more than 4,100 high school students in the nationwide NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing competition recognizing the accomplishments of females in technology. Kat is a member of the Engineering Cohort, Worship Team, and is taking a variety of AP classes. "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. Join us on March 11 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. to meet program leaders and to learn about the many extracurricular opportunities at Crean Lutheran. We hosted our first athletic event of the school year this weekend! A multi-team cross country event took place on Saturday! Thank you Crean Lutheran Athletic Department and Coach Cherry for making this event happen. "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." Romans 5:3-5

***SANTIAGO FIRE UPDATE*** All students were picked up safely from campus and the Great Park. Our prayers and thanks go out to the Firefighters, Police, first responders, and families affected by this fire. Information about tomorrow will come out later today. ***UPDATE 9:20am*** Our students are being transported to the Orange County Great Park in Irvine. Please pick up your students in Parking Lot 4. Orange County Great Park 8000 Great Park Blvd. Irvine, CA 92618... Though there is no immediate threat to Crean Lutheran's campus, it has been recommended by Irvine Police Department that we evacuate due to the fires in Irvine. We kindly request that parents pick up their student as soon as possible unless they drove themselves. All of today's instruction will be delivered asynchronously. Christie Foss (Kittelsen) and Joshua Foss from the Class of 2015 were married on October 18. Enjoy this sweet moment from their ceremony when CLHS alum from the Class of 2013 Olen Kittelsen from Armors performed a special song for them. Last night was the first Medical Cohort Lab of the year! Medical Cohort students learned about different aspects of public health, corona viruses, as well as testing and vaccines through videos, virtual labs, speakers, and hands-on activities. "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well." Psalm 139:13-14

Senior Gwen Butler spoke in chapel today about time spent on social media and finding time to give thanks to Jesus. In our busy lives, we should thank Jesus for His unconditional love by finding time to worship Him. Gwen concluded, We should put the needs of others before ourselves and give God the glory." All things are lawful, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful, but not all things build up. Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor." 1 Corinthians 10:23-24

Crean Lutheran Senior Noah Shapard spoke in chapel today about Psalm 16:8. He said that in this troubled time we should look for joy through our Lord, God. "I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken." Psalm 16:8
